WES Head of School resigns

According to a friend of mine who works at St. Andrews School, he interviewed and was offered a job there. He was really unhappy at WES. He ultimately declined the St Andrews offer to go somewhere else. My kids and family will sure miss him. If the other poster is right about hiring a non ordained person, that is a problem and not something I am happy with. Why can't we keep a priest there?

Whoever this is that is posting comments about individuals (this time the WES Chaplin), please stop. It is completely inappropriate to do this. There is no person who should have their activities singled out for anonymous and public discussions. I have asked that this thread be taken down.

I can't imaging that anyone on this forum would like to have their daily activities recorded and disseminated to a public audience for their judgement. Please remember that there are individuals behind your comments. If I am to believe some of the comments on this thread, it appears that you are a family (families) that attends an Episcopal school that is predicated on being kind. How could you think that this appropriate?

There are many complaints about WES, but I wonder why couldn't they keep Father Tim happy?!?! What would make him so unhappy that he just wanted to be at another school? He had not been there very long. I'm sorry, but I find that rather unsettling. WES has treated so many nice families poorly that I feel like they have some bad karma coming their way and now they are scrambling to keep things together.

+1 It is not fair to point your fingers to individuals and discuss these anonymously. This goes for all discussions related to the HOS, WES Chaplin and the newly recruited teacher. The decisions on hiring, firing, promotions and demotions are quite personal and should not be disclosed. Try considering this issue from an Human Resources point of view.

If people are truly concerned about why Father Tim is leaving, how about ask Father Tim directly. I don't understand why people feel it is ok to talk about the details of his private life (i.e. where he interviewed, applied, etc.). I think that crosses a line even for this forum. If you have problems with the school, then vent them all you want. From everything I have seen on this site, no one has had an ax to grind with Father Tim. Actually, quite the opposite seems to be true in that people really like him. So, how about leaving the details of his personal life off this site. God knows I would probably leave the school too if people in the WES community thought it was ok to talk about me this way. That may explain why they are hiring someone who is ordained to take on the chaplain's position.

Should read: "That may explain why they are hiring someone who ISN'T ordained to take on the chaplain's position."

I think rather that talk bout the current chaplain's job search, people should be asking why an Episcopal school is hiring an unordained chaplain. That is pretty unusual and may suggest deeper issues in the school. Not only why can't they keep a chaplain, but why aren't priests interested in going there? That doesn't seem to be a problem at the many MANY other Episcopal schools in the area like St. Andrews, St. Albans, St. Patricks, etc.

They are under enrolled for next year and are naturally quite concerned.

They should have thought of that before. It's simple: keep the nice families (and students) that you have and then you won't have to worry about your marketing effort so much. Treat the families you have with respect because they are paying customers and you actually need them. If you don't treat them well, they have many options in this area. Treat all families well -- none of this playing favorites baloney. WES rolls out the red carpet to applicants, then practically dares you to leave once you are there and at their mercy. Now they are worried about enrollment? Cry me a river!

How far under enrollment are they?

WES has some very positive things going on, but the negatives are overwhelming . Why pay Big 3 tuition to WES when there are higher functioning and more reputable metro privates available?

There are parents at all schools who feel like their problems have not been solved and then there are happy ones. The big 3 are no different, just find the right fit for your child. It is all perception...name me one of your good schools and I will find you a family with an axe to grind. People on this sight are already judging the next school head and he/she is not even in the running yet. Then there are those who don't have a head of school to criticize yet, so they choose to criticize the process. The people who want to attack schools or employees should make sure they have their facts straight before they go on a public forum and start making statements.

We'll put, glad to see some people think before they post.

Get your information checked, you are making assumptions and do not know what you are talking about. You have posted something false here.

If WES doesn't have problems then why are they going from two second grade classes down to one and have dropped in the student enrollment 20 percent from this year to next?

I did not say WES does not have problems, I said all schools have problems and people perceive them differently based on their experiences. I do not understand why it is so important for you to attack WES. Don't you have something better to do with your time then spread your bitterness on a public forum?
