I agree, but I don't think it really matters. The WES administration chooses not to listen, and if you post anything negative or critical on this website, you will be labelled a WES-basher and will be dismissed. In the mean time, employees will continue to leave, and families will continue to leave. The Dir. of Admission and Asst. Dir. of Admissions are the most recent to leave. On average, about 30-40 families choose to leave each year, and that doesn't include the 8th grade students who graduate. In 2001, the school had 331 students. This year, the school had 277. In the fall, school will open with around 235, depending on any additional students who may enroll this summer. Those are facts taken from directly from old student directories and data provided to me by a staff member. |
And what do you achieve with that? It seems like you use the anonymity of this forum. |
| It's can be very stressful to encounter a problem at WES (since it involves your child), feel completely unsupported by the school (that you have supported for so long), and then remove your child from his/her friends at the school. Maybe people find the support on here that they didn't receive at the school and are comforted to know that they are not alone -- many others had a similar experience. It's a big decision to leave, but most of us felt we had no choice and are better off elsewhere! Sorry, but WES is not going to get glowing reviews on here. |
| PP 12:12, what's up with the faculty turnover? Especially the most recent turnover? |
It helps spread the word to prospective parents, so they don't have to spend over $60,000 like we did before they realize there are major problems. I wish I had taken the time to read through these posts before we enrolled and spent a lot of money. It is great there are parents and students who have positive experiences at WES, but there are also a large number who have very negative experiences. Parents will hear about the positive experiences from the school staff who promote the school. When parents are expected to put up tens of thousands of dollars, they should have access to other perspectives as well, so they may make an informed decision. |
I am assuming you had two children at the school based on your expenditure amount. What grades were they? |
And you think you'll be able to get a truthful and unbiased perspectives posted on an anonymous forum... |
| Yes. I have children at other schools and some of what I see posted is correct-good and not so good. But a flood of posts re one school is never good. And, with the same theme. The answer is YES. |
And you're assuming that there are many people posting the same complaints, while a closer reading would suggest that there are a handful of posters posting negative stuff over and over again. One other WES thread was locked by the admin because of sock puppetting. |
| What about the recent faculty turnover? What about admissions? |
| The old WES thread (NO sock puppet) was pretty long, with different stories about bad experiences. I suspect it was the families of "thinned-out" 8th grade. What those people posted -- their complaints and bad experiences -- matched ours, and we left this year. I personally know other families that feel the same way and have left this year. Please explain why 3rd grade is still broken? The teacher that was supposed to get it straightened out was abruptly fired before spring break. |
| Third grade has been bad for at least a decade. This year, we were disappointed to mysteriously lose a good 3rd grade teacher. |
| We were sorry to see that teacher go -- he was one of our favorites. |
People are looking for support on this forum? You sound so fake. I would imagine you would have family and friends for that, better yet move on and bond with your new school. The only reason people use a sight like this is out of vindictiveness and the hope that they can cause damage to a school. Face it you are on a path of revenge for what you feel was an injustice. You had one child, but the way you post I can see that you are playing several parts. I find it curious that this is a claimed form of therapy when you just keep dredging up what you say you found so unpleasant. Spare us your sanctimonious posting. Lots of people left schools due to bad teachers, myself included, but I moved on and actually have a life. |
