You provide no real proof, just hearsay. Why should I listen to you?

From my family's experience, that has been the problem at WES. No one wants to listen and address concerns, so we voted with our feet.

+ us, a long time ago. For the same reasons under a different head. Over the years I saw many of my kids' classmates pull out for the same reasons. I wish we had pulled out sooner. So for those who keep saying there are only one or two derogatory posters are just wrong - I don't know anyone who left WES happy. For the fun of it, I pulled out the directory from our first year at the school and counted. There were 331 children then, and now you say the "target" is 300? And only 225 enrolled? Whoa. And from what I've read above, absolutely nothing has been done to change the punitive environment my children were in. Quite simple, some of these teachers should not be teaching young, impressionable children.

Well, we had a recent experience (left after this year), and our family was treated very poorly despite giving both time and a generous amount of money to the school. No, our child was not counseled out. The problems were a mean and punitive teacher (that was the last straw), parent-run board, weak headmaster, and Elementary Head that seems to protect those teachers (in my opinion).

+1 in agreement, we did the same for the same reasons and pulled 3 children. And I'm not the "WES-Basher", whatever that means.

2 children removed from WES. A very bad experience.

Nevertheless for the poster who claims to have voted by feet and keep repeating the same message over and over again: why cannot you move on? Why do you have so strong ties with the school?

I don't know who is right or wrong in this debate since the numbers have not been released, but if the pro-WES camp is right and enrollment is the same or higher, the anti-WES people on this thread will appear bitter and untruthful. If the anti-WES people are right and enrollment has dropped significantly, then the pro-WES people will look desperately out of touch with their own school. Time will tell either way.

No. The anti-WES person claims the attendance fell by 75 (implying next year attendance 202) and later on claimed the attendance is in the low 230s. These are the benchmarks you should use against the actual numbers for udging truthfulness of the poster as no source is provided.

I am sorry the school has not been a good fit for your DCs. But the situation is in no way unique to WES. My DCs experience has been different than yours. We will consider WES only for our younger one when DC comes of age.

On the other hand, money donation and time--no matter how generous--should not entitle any DC in receiving a special treatment in the school. These include firing a teacher or Elementary head.

We expected to have kind teachers and a nurturing environment just like the WES brochure claims to have. When we felt that was not the case, we left. Everyone knows that WES won't get rid of the problematic teachers, no matter how many negative reports they receive. We don't expect special treatment -- we love to support our DC's school.

An announcement went out today that the Director of Admissions has resigned for "other opportunities." The school has lost both the Associate Director of Admissions and now the Director of Admissions in a matter of two months? Sounds like the posters who are warning people about a drop in student numbers may be on to something.

You are assuming they are the same person.

I said the enrollment was down approximately 75 seats for the upcoming year. I stand by that information. The pp can subtract 75 from whatever number they . It's still less around 75. Pretty simple. I was given that number from a WES employee.

If the Director of Admissions resigned, I am sorry to hear that. She was the one person that listened and tried to help our family. I know another family felt the same way. She was kind and sincere. That is a big loss for WES.

21:47 again. The Director of Admissions not only listened but tried to come up with solutions for our problems.

Sorry to see her go.

Interesting that someone bumped the old WES thread up to this page by posting on it. I wish I had listened to those posters. They describe our experience, and it was recent. Why is the Head of the Elementary School still there when those grades have been problematic for years? She was nasty to me, and loses her patience quickly. Third grade and fourth grade are still broken.

I think people are posting their experiences in this public forum because WES won't listen. People are fed up with the attitude of the school and it over flows into something like DCUM. It's embarrassing for the school, but WES really shouldn't treat childen and families in non caring ways.
