The Coast Guard isn't stopping them because they are no where near the US. These boats are literally thousands of miles away from the US and incapable of reaching us.

There is a part of me that this has become some sort of satanic sacrifice.

CNN: “The US military is holding two survivors on a Navy ship after the US carried out a Thursday strike on an alleged drug boat in the Caribbean, according to three US officials.
The strike, which has not been publicly acknowledged by the Trump administration, was the sixth known strike on a boat allegedly involved in drug trafficking. But it appeared to mark the first time an attack had not killed everyone on board.
It is unclear what the US is going to do with the survivors being detained, the sources said.”

Coast Guard can stop private boats pretty much anywhere in international waters.

This whole thing is absurd. Holding on what basis?

Having lived in Latin America and studied the region for a long time, this is just a terrible idea. There is tremendous sensitivity, based on past events, to the idea that the US is an imperial power, as we in fact have been for a long time. Acting like we are actually the emperor of the region (a region we don't really want to start a war with right now) is only going to lead to destruction. Destruction of our relationship of cooperation, built up over years, no to mention the murder of non-combatants that has already happened.

It's international waters. They're lucky they weren't machine gunned and finished off.

I just have a feeling that that flag officer’s sudden retirement is related to this.

As in, the president and/or Hegseth are mad these men were rescued . (Given their lust for lethality vs pesky legality). Perhaps the flag officer had the sailors’ back, with regard to not killing these survivors outright , so he decided to part ways with the administration.

If my hunch is right, I hope the truth comes out.

Blow them up in a boat that is defenseless and had turned around vs killing them after wards…is there really a difference?

The government just released two survivors of its most recent extrajudicial attack on what they say are drug trafficking boats in the Caribbean. Sounds like they didn’t have any grounds to detain them, and that they were not, in fact, drug traffickers.

So this confirms that the US is murdering people in international waters. What if Venezuela decided to kill Americans, saying they were drug traffickers?

The Trump administration was very upset with U.S. Southern Command for “rescuing” the survivors. Scuttle butt is they ordered the US navy to kill everyone and take no prisoners. Orders were refused and heads rolled. Trump will replace people involved with loyalists. Would hate to be serving in SOUTHCOM.

What a terrible position to put our military personnel in. I’m truly ashamed of our government. It’s like shooting rats in a cage.
