Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)

Is it just me or does it seem like there have been so many arrests already this school year of FCPS school employees or other people given free access to children (like Overton's assistant coach who suspiciously pursued a young teen to do drugs with).
Hayfield admin needs to do a careful review of all of these throngs of adults who seem to be lurking around the players. The posts by that weird religious lady from the sideline of the game calling herself a "coach" freaked me out. She had crazy eyes and called herself an "Apostle". |
A Christian pastor or of some other religion? Spiritual gurus among athletes are not uncommon, but perhaps a bit unusual in DMV high school sports. The courts have ruled in favor of high school team prayers led by coaches and/or other vetted school system employees. |
| So, my kids are basketball players so football might be different but....how do these "all star" pre-formed teams get better if they are only playing in blowouts? If my sons teams only played much smaller schools that they could beat 70-0, the boys wouldn't improve their skills. |
What difference does it make what religion? |
| If the spiritual advisor is vetted per whatever FCPS rules, if such rules exist, then more power to them. There’s probably no policy that states a team cannot have a spiritual guru, whether Buddhist, Christian, or whatever. |

I have never heard of an FCPS PUBLIC SCHOOL SPORTS team having a "spiritual advisor" of any sort.

That lady--Karen Bettis Davis-- posted on social media that she was hired as a team "coach" and "minister" and then posted a video of herself on the sideline (no random adults are allowed on the game sideline) making fun of one of the opponent teams and laughing. She seemed mentally..off.
She is not listed anywhere as an official employee of FCPS. Creepy AF. There are a lot of weirdos that just seem to follow this coach around but who is running background checks and supervising who has access to the children? |
They dont, but next year Hayfield football wouldnt be play anyone in the National District, theyll be moving to a more competitive district |
When is the last time an FCPS school has changed districts without either growing or shrinking? Moving them is an admission that they're cheating and not just on a good run with a couple of talented players who will graduate. The real powerhouse schools will play other schools on a more national schedule, but Hayfield doesn't have that kind of money |
The approved VHSL mid-cycle realignment show Hayfield remaining in the National District through 2027. Maybe an appeal can be made by the rival athletic directors? |
Get instagram has her on field by coaches looks like at all games… does she have a kid playing? Or is she paid by Overton’s nonprofit (that at least at old school did private training for players). When search her name also gives this as a result: “Author, Speaker, Consultant, Pastor & Sports Chaplain at Hayfield High School in Alexandria, Va. Mrs. Karen Bettis-Davis” |
| She does not have a son on the team. One of her sons claims to be a coach (paid? unpaid? Who knows?) and the other is in college. |
| I have never heard of an FCPS "sports chaplain". That is disturbing. Who at Gatehouse can explain this? |
Stirs it up if nothing else, she posted Chantilly Sept message that had the “organic” language and talked about players moving to Hayfield with 0-70 scoreboard photo. https://www.instagram.com/kbdavisworldwide/reel/DAhLVJ3JkPj/ |
This would be issue for me to have parents on field that are not vetted coaches. More I read more I get the comments about using schools for free field access and other business ventures. Shameful now seems with Reid approval. Maybe this is good distraction for FCPS from other matters is why don’t shut it down more. |
