Please stop with these dumb, lame attempts at hyperbolic sarcasm. Sorry but every Democrat I know is currently out living their lives, versus your weird scenario of hiding double-masked in their basements never to go out, nor crippled with fear of myocarditis. I still wonder if you actually even know any actual Democrats in real life, if you truly think your weird caricature holds any weight. Perhaps it's you who never gets out of the basement to meet new people with different views. |
It’s hysterical how the party loyalist Democrats in this thread passionately believe that everything the Democrats do is evidence-based.
I think some of you must have been educated in those blue schools districts where Democrats are enthusiastically destroying rigor and math education because 2+2=4 is colonialist or whatever. |
Again, not a single Democrat I know goes around saying "2+2=4 is colonialist." Not a one. You keep spouting right wing talking points and strawmen but never actually make your case. You are the veritable poster child for right wing post-truth. |
I'd like to know what red state school you went to where they apparently don't teach anything about logic, critical thinking, science or being able to separate facts from opinions. Or... lemme guess, home schooled? 😆 |
This assertion is post-truth. Not only does the US not have the lowest inflation of any G7 country, it has the highest inflation rate. It is 25% higher than the next highest and more than four times the rate in the G7 country with the lowest rate. Italy 0.8% France 2.2% Germany 2.2% UK 2.3% Japan 2.5% Canada 2.7% US 3.4% https://tradingeconomics.com/country-list/inflation-rate?continent=america |
3.4% is pretty good. In comparison, Russia's inflation is 7.8%. Turkey's is 69.8%. Argentina's is a whopping 289%. It's noteworthy that Italy has the lowest inflation rates. A lot of their inflation rates had been driven by energy costs. They were able to drive down their energy costs by investing in renewables, by lessening dependence on Russian gas supply, by increasing control and regulation of their energy industry and markets, and investing in critical infrastructure around energy. They also did a lot to help individual households. But sadly we are not doing those things here in the US, because... Republicans and the fossil fuel industry. 🤷♂️ And likewise, it's noteworthy that Argentina's is so high. It has increased significantly since Javier Millei took over. Millei ran on a platform of deep cuts to government and government spending, rolling back government regulation, letting the free market run wild. He is a follower of the right wing Austrian School of economists like Hayek and thinks Keynesian economics is evil. Meanwhile, the observable reality is that so far, his ideology and political measures have only made Argentina's economic situation even worse. Republicans love to whine about inflation yet they are a big driver of our inflation. |
Not entirely "post truth" - inflation rates are continually changing. The US was in fact for a while the lowest of any G-7 nations. https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2023/sep/01/joe-biden/does-the-us-have-less-inflation-than-other-leading/ Last summer, Italy's inflation rate was 5.9%. France's was 4.3%. UK was 6.8% They brought their inflation rates down despite "ThATs SoCIaLIsM!!!" and "renewable energy is a hoax" and all of the other post-truth right wing bunk that gets in the way of sound policy |
Nonetheless, it's lower in parts of europe now. No liberal immediately challenged the claim. But as a dem myself, I will stop believing that our inflation is lower than in europe. |
Same here. As a Dem I think it's perfectly fine to update your views based on more current information. But that said, there's also a huge difference between information that was correct a few months ago but is now outdated (as with comparative inflation data), versus things that were right from the start completely fabricated lies, like "the election was stolen" and most of the anti-vax BS. In the first, there was at least an element of truth. In the second, there never was any truth to it. |
That's not such a simple statement to make given that more than a dozen countries in Europe currently have higher inflation rates than the US. And as the data shows, inflation rates are continually changing. |
There are a lot of conservatives who attempt to crucify people if their position changes based on newer and more comprehensive or accurate information. A lot of conservatives seem to be fixated on whatever it was when they first heard it, and refuse to accept that times and circumstances can and do change. Along with refusing to accept that what they first heard may have been wrong all along. |
Agreed. And it's is similar to what the far left does but instead of chronology, they use the oppression pyramid. |
Not sure what you're trying to say here, the "oppression pyramid" has nothing to do with changing one's position. Also, are you saying that bias doesn't exist and is just a fabrication of the left? Whatever they are smoking in your echo chamber, I'll pass. Seems to be having a bad impact on your reasoning and thinking skills. |
Some topics really are just a matter of opinion. Like how far we should go to compensate for racial discrimination of the past, versus just removing racial barriers to allow historically oppressed groups to thrive on their own. However, people on the (far) left act as if their opinions on the topic are facts. I think that's the other side of post-truth. Believing your opinions are facts. |
I really hope Biden runs with this. It’s a hilarious talking point. |
