What ever happened to St James plans to build new fields in western fairfax county? |
I remember seeing them speak about that prior to the 23/24 season but a lot of people internally didn't even know about it. Highly doubt that it went much beyond an idea to save the club knowing that field space would eventually become an issue. |
| There are FCV Fusion fields but do not know if those fields are associated with the St. James |
They are not affiliated. I think that was a business venture gone wrong. |
| Either way seems all roads are pointing to Springfield if you want to play for the FCV brand. Players that do not want to travel to Springfield can go VAR, NVA, Union, or travel to VDA |
I just dont see how that's possible without some type of affiliation with an existing club. Sure, FCV has the flagship facility with the one indoor surface but there's no way that it can handle what St James wants to offer and what FCV needs for training. |

Addressing two previous items -
FCV does have GA2 teams and older boys teams based in Loudoun. These are the kids and teams that would be most hurt/impacted. Fairfax would not grant permits to build in western part of county. |
What’s a GA2 team? |
2nd teams for the FCV GA program. Competed in EDP and local tournaments. They don't really have them beyond U15 though. I think they only fielded 2nd teams for U13-U15 and beyond that if there were bubble players they would just double roster on a GA and United team. |
| Thank you for the correction. |

The positive thing is that even if each age group loses some top players, it's still only GA and teams will continue to win and have success. Not as harsh as an entrance to ECNL would be. Based on the standings in the lower age groups I don't think they will be winning easily. They are having more success against ECNL teams in tournaments then they are in their own conference. It will be tougher for them to reach the top of the GA Middle Atlantic than many people think. |

It will be tougher for them to reach the top of the GA Middle Atlantic than many people think. Sounds like you're specifically talking about the 2010 GA team. They have had some success in tournaments against ECNL competition and their league play has been mediocre. Their 2011's seem to be having a decent run, but haven't played any ECNL opponents. Either way, should some part of every GA team from FCV move to another GA club that forms like the rumors surrounding VAR, I don't know if it's just as simple as plug and play and it's rolling again. |
Is that bolded part true? Doesn't seem right, unless they're playing against bottom feeder ECNL teams. FCV 2010GA has had good results against BSC at the end of their U13 year and this year results against FC Delco and Arlington. I still think they're trending down just due to their inconsistency and not being able to be beyond middle of the road for league play. |
They have a U-17 United team that practices at Hanson. That team has a large roster. So much so that they kind of split it in two and one team plays EDP and the other plays NCSL. But to the best of my knowledge, none (or *very* few) of those players have ever played with the U-17 GA team. |
