Charles Allen faces recall effort

Anonymous
“the challenges DC faces in relation to other urban areas” are:

the existence of the Council.

There are several posters, I really don’t understand why one person keeps thinking they are in a bilateral debate.

I want to share my view. It’s over. Go f up some other town.

ps The gall to ride on the Mike Gill’s death and post-humously claim a friendship. Smug slug.

“It's hard to understand, let alone explain.” No, it’s really not hard to understand or explain what the problem is.

I respectfully disagree with you. I thought his statement made very clear the challenges DC faces in relation to other urban areas

A Democratic president appointed Graves. The Democratic controlled Senate confirmed him. Charles Allen represents Capitol Hill. If he can’t find a way to pressure Graves then he’s not the right guy for the job.

Whatever. Graves didn’t prevent chase, enforcement of lifestyle regulations, defund the police, institute impossible to prosecute bars such as hearings for misdemeanors, raise offender ages, prosecute cops doing their job, put his wife on a taxpayer teat etc

What’s with you and Allen?!

Responses like this make me think that the people who want the recall don't actually care about the city.

No, that’s why we raised twice what you did in two weeks. We care about our city. We don’t care about lining your pockets and sacrificing our children’s futures at the altar of your ideology.

As I've shared before, I've raised zero dollars, so twice that isn't all that impressive.

I'm also a teacher so my pockets are more likely to be lined with expo markers than money.

I'm not sure what children are learning at the altar of my ideology outside of the best ways to form number bonds and good strong strategies for citing text evidence.

Could you try the same and cite some evidence from the text above in CM Allen's statement to show which of his positions you think are worthy of a recall?

OMG. It’s not about you, it’s about Charles Allen. It’s his money, ideology (I personally think he’s a grifter but others think he held some beliefs) and it’s his failings and ultimately his recall.

The statement is defensive, long, a lie, and he’s a crook. I can’t say more. But if you are at all involved in the Ward, you know at least some if it.

"No, that’s why we raised twice what you did in two weeks. We care about our city. We don’t care about lining your pockets and sacrificing our children’s futures at the altar of your ideology."

You can see why I'm confused how this was directed towards me, not Charles Allen.
As for your second paragraph, you've presented no evidence so unfortunately I can't really understand your point.

Why so into him? Tell us what he did well and don’t forget to cite the examples you asked for first

Respectfully, I don’t care. I used to, but now I am going to go donate. Again

Okay enjoy your day. I do have to share the laugh I just had at you donating money to this after accusing others of lining their pockets but I'm sure you already saw the irony in that

Dear “Teacher”
I’d set money on fire if it would rid us of “Ted Cruz” of DC that is Charles Allen who people say is very much lining his pockets.
You still haven’t said what he did well not cite any examples.
Respectfully,
“Austronaut”

I don't believe that I need to do that for someone who is already elected. But I do think everytime someone supporting the recall posts like they do above it's not helping your cause or outreach efforts.

I don’t think you’re a teacher, and think you’re a provocateur from his office or friends’ context. Your style of writing is similar to his. But I enjoy venting about Chuck so all good.

It’s very telling if you are real that you can’t name one thing or wish to engage on education in general or in the Ward.

There’s no irony in donating $$$ to a recall effort. It could fail but maybe it ties him up for breaking more things for a while

My education focus is on the fact that our mayor refuses to engage with teachers on a new contract and I'm yet again working on an expired deal, as I have for 7/10 years as an ET-15 in DCPS. Served on the chancellors cabinet under Ferebee, and have been recognized at past standing ovation events. I hope that clears up any confusion about my educational claims.
Council doesn't even have an education dept anymore thanks to mendo so there's not much intersectionality between Allen and what I would like from my govt. what I don't like is all of this angry rhetoric. When I ask people to claim factually what they dislike, they can't. When I ask them what policies of his have led to more crime, they can't. It's disappointing that Charles Allen takes up so much of the discourse when teachers are working without contracts, in overcrowded classrooms, being tasked with academically and socially lifting up the next generation while our mayor ignores us and our fellow citizens bash our students
