I'd like to know how many buildings on Connecticut and Wisconsin are majority voucher recipients at this point? Or as Chris Geldart called them, de facto private public housing. |
Frumin is another Grosso - and he sees himself as an all-city “progressive” not a Ward 3 rep. |
The shootings (and domestic violence victims being thrown out of windows) are no surprise when police give up on shoplifting, aggressive panhandling and fare jumping. People think “no one cares, I can get away with anything”. My kid asks me “why do we have to pay our Metro fare when those people are not?” |
Has anyone been able to get on the live stream? The link isn’t taking me to a live session |

Lmao at the guy in a mask. |
I went, it was a good turn out. What did people think?
I miss Cheh. Frumin does not strike me as a serious person, that public safety was way down his priority list is not a surpise. The newish MPD guy was better but straight up said the playground had no involvement. He could have said he couldn't answer the question but the suspects running across the playground was in something MPD put out. So, higher marks for delivery but still not esp trustworthy. Lots of anecdotes, running the clock and deflection from both, I thought. Hope to be surprised. Expected to see Courtney Carlson there. Many of the ANCs spoke/asked questions. |
The few ideas that Frumin has will take years to implement under even the best case scenarios. You’re, on your own out here in an understaffed 2D. |
This is disheartening. But not surprising. |
I watched about 25 minutes online and was not encouraged by Frumin's responses at all. His strategy seems to be to hope no more "incidents" (aka murder attempts) happen until this one has blown over. |
It always annoys me when Frumin puts this in his newsletters: "I voted to approve a Fiscal Year 2024 budget that fully funds MPD and includes additional dollars for recruitment and retention efforts."
You want credit for not voting against the budget? Vince Gray has a bill to provide more funding and to specifically grow the force. Frumin could be pushing for something similar too. Just voting for the current D.C. budget isn't doing anything. |
Also not impressed. Frumin seemed bored and dismissive. He will do nothing. What (preventable) horrible things will happen before real action is taken? |
Keeping your fingers crossed and bragging about traffic cameras is not a strategy. |
We have to put our faith in the U.S. Attorney's office. Crime is rampant because there are so few consequences right now. Once we start prosecuting more crimes, the tide will start to turn. It will also help police morale. For years, they have been putting cases together only to see them go nowhere. |
He made quite a few statements aimed at lowering expectations, was odd. MPD said they expect the case to be closed soon so then the shooters and victim will be identified. If it is true that none of the 3 were leaseholders at Brandywine or Saratoga, but may have had "ties" that is almost worse. That associates of residents are dealing in the neighborhood but can't be evicted as a solution is more complex. I am still baffled that things that would get you kicked out of public housing seemingly have no impact on vouchers. 3 shots fired, 1 hit victim, someone asked where other 2 went but question was sidestepped. |
