I've seen the brass knuckles/hatchet/switchblade/bike guy. He typically sits on the handicapped bench seats near the driver and spreads out with his stuff. I've always seen him have a bike, he tends to get off in CP or AM.
I often sit near the driver but on the L2 have switched to sitting near the back door due to this guy. He is pretty scary. Please pass info and text number along to kids or elderly in particular who may ride the L2. Hopefully nothing dangerous will happen but the guy is erratic and heavily armed and it's an enclosed moving space. |
Has Frumin finally dropped pickle ball as his major initiative? He must have realized finally that his voters want to focus on crime. |
Friendship Place put someone released from prison for murder in an apartment in the Brittany on Connecticut Ave. |
This can’t possibly have happened. Weapons are unlawful on Metro. Or at least they are for decent people. If there actually is a “regular” on a specific bus route going armed (and apparently mentally ill), Metro PD needs regime change if they haven’t put plainclothes officers on that bus to deal with him. |
"Returning citizens" do qualify for housing vouchers. Per DC Code landlords can only "look back" 7 years for crime, including if they were incarcerated for 7+ years. There are no exceptions for rape, murder, etc. and that legislation applies regardless of how rent is paid, so, not limited to vouchers, but often they would not otherwise have legal means to pay. Yeah, people need to understand why the Connecticut and Wisconsin corridors have changes so much. Initially the vouchers were for 1 year and often seemed to go to elderly. Now almost all are PSH and many of the recipients are quite young. Crime and visible drug dealing has really increased, often with the dealers coming from elsewhere. It's not just rental apartments but also rented out condo units. |
Metro PD is really spread out geographically and that worked ok when metro and bus were more orderly and there was not as much crime in system or on properties, like garages. But, instead of increasing PD they are going to change from color coded lines to numbered lines and change all the signage. People also need to REPORT, the OP of the Reddit thread had not done so, but finally did today. |
He really seems quite enamored of JLG, and eager to work with her. Mentions her frequently, etc. Make of that what you will. |
The DC government put a guy next door to me who smoked cigarettes, crack (and cooked), and pot all day and night. I couldn't breathe with my entire apartment filled with fumes because of this thug. It was so bad the entire floor complained. He also smelled like he hadn't showered in years. Thankfully he was evicted. I have cancer mets in both lungs and chronic pulmonary issues, very selfish of these people.
We need privatization of the government to end the thuggery by the elected officials and the troubled population who keep electing them. The DC government claims they aren't required to obey agreements or laws because they have discretion to do what they feel. |
We are so f*cked. |
This year he sent more Tweets about Art At Night than he has about any of the crimes in his Ward. Even the fairly liberals Ds on my block are wondering what’s up with this cat. |
He’s realized that he doesn’t have to do anything and he’ll get re-elected. I’m fact, I’m sure he’s figured out that his re-election chances improve the more he stays away from important issues and just tries to be “likable”. |
Hatchet guy also seen near zoo entrance on Columbus Day per another post, ranting. If you see heavily armed people having a mental health crisis, call 911. MPD works closely with the DBH and can also get that type of help if needed or can bring someone in for a 72 hour psych hold. People need to reach out to MPD or to Metro PD if on bus or train in real time, not just express concern on social media. People really have been brainwashed into not calling police, do it for your own safety, that of others and of the mentally ill guy.
Stay safe everyone. |
Re: vouchers, at meeting at UDC, "Janeese GETS it!" He almost voted against Pinto's public safety bill in June and his musings echoed JLG. Everyone else, even Nadeau and Allen, voted YES and were silent, but Matt just had to go on about juvenile crime theory, etc. JLG used to be a juvenile prosecutor, gives a bit of a sense of why juvenile crime has surged everywhere. No idea why Frumin is so enamored of her and her ideology, it's pretty cringy stuff. He has such a cartoon/buffoon demeanor, hard to imagine him having been taken seriously as a lawyer. |
Recall Frumin. |
Inertia in DC politics has been a longtime problem. One strong challenger needs to present themselves early on in the cycle (you're seeing this right now in Ward 8, where the anti-Semite cretin is in for a fight). Too many times, you get a couple of mediocre candidates who step forward against incumbents and mainly cancel each other out. This is how dumdum Brianne keeps getting elected in Ward 1 (she has received fewer votes than her combined opponents in each of the past two primaries, yet keeps getting elected as Ward 1 sinks further and further down). Unless there's a scandal (see Graham and Evans and Silverman), it's usually pretty hard to dislodge a Council incumbent, even if they're terrible. |
