I think the daughter was a convenient excuse, not saying there wasn't an issue going on but I'm guessing her DD already had a solid support system at home and mom didn't really NEED to be there. Bottom line if Joan was really into Gerry she would have stayed.

Not sure if it was just Joan being "done" with the show or what...she seems like a more reserved person. Not ready to seriously date someone let alone get engaged. I can imagine that seeing how enthusiastic other women were could have made it more clear to Joan that she wasn't in the same mental space.

Gerry grew up Catholic...might still be. I think Theresa is Italian...probably Catholic. Another reason he might end up with Theresa.

No. She seems overwhelmed by the tv experience and dating in general. She didn't show enough energy and personality to be picked as a lead.

I will not be surprised if there is a twist when we get to the top 4 or so ... the return of Joan! If I were the producers, I'd totally do that. She's gorgeous and he likes her; it would throw the other women for a huge loop and make great reality tv.

Kathy is a nasty, manipulative person. She got super jealous and started trouble in the house over it and then lost it in front of Gerry on purpose in a bid to get attention and sympathy. Unfortunately the fact that her crying was manipulative was lost on him and it worked ... he gave her the darn rose. I'll be super happy to see her go.

I'm not necessarily approving of Teresa's lack of discretion and inability to sense the feelings of others, but Kathy's jealousy went over the top in a way that revealed a nasty personality.

I think some of the women are probably a bit too sophisticated for Gerry, who although very kind and good looking, gives a bit of a country bumpkin impression. I bet Joan left when she realized that this wasn't the guy for her, and her social life in DC would continue smoothly with this kind of clean, early exit.

I kind of like Ellen best for him, but think he will end up with Teresa. Nancy is great but equally too sophisticated. I really like Susan, but not for Gerry. I don't actually believe that Leslie is into him, and they're not the right fit. Faith seems too young. Teresa is annoying, but I could see him choosing her, Kathy is still in it because she's entertaining. April is a little crazy and drama-loving, Sandra is getting zero screentime.

Ultimately I don't think will end in marriage because people this age don't relocate away from their established communities.

+1 the fillers are ghastly. They don't really look good on middle-aged women like the kardashian sisters and they look horrendous on old people. Fillers should be illegal past the age of 30.

Leslie is attractive but too overtly sexual for Gerry. I don't think she is his type.
