The Golden Bachelor

Yeah, looks like she bailed when he was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer back in early 2024.

He wanted spend time with his family, and she wasn't willing to take that on.

She said that's not true, and I believe her. He's proven himself to be a liar and unlikeable. She said it wasn't distance or the cancer, but that's all she would say.

Then iff nothing else, she's incredibly poor judge character and makes appalling bad decisions.

Where has she addressed that his cancer diagnosis specifically did not factoring? It was just revealed today.

He indicated in his interview that his perspective changed after the diagnosis, and he decided he wanted to stay in Indiana. He initially told her he was sick of the lake house and wanted something new together. But he didn't like NJ and they couldn't agree on a place in SC. More importantly, neither will say it out loud, but it's clear not only did the spark fizzle quickly but they really don't like each other as people. They're not in touch.
Since he is the only documented liar in the group, I'm not going to judge Theresa. She used poor judgment for buying into his fantasy but it was just that, a fantasy. He's not the guy he pretended to be on the show.

I mean she’s not going to say “Yes, he got diagnosed with cancer and I bailed out because that was not what I signed up for, and besides I had only known him a few months.”

Well he also indicated that's not what happened. Good enough for you?

I can believe this. He learned he had cancer, wasn't really feeling it with Theresa (SO much commentary on this thread about how he never seemed genuinely into her, ever), so decided to stay in Indiana. She was okay with it, because she quickly realized he was not the person he pretended to be on the show (sweet, sensitive, successful). But I think he made the initial decision. He was very decisive when they did that divorce announcement interview, whereas she seemed more hesitant.

I also bet he realized she wasn't as wealthy as she implied either. Wouldn't surprise me if it cut both ways. He always struck me as very calculated in terms of determination to get as much $$ as possible out of the GB experience, from the lead fee to whatever large bonus they got for the rushed marriage. He's not flush but I don't think she is either. Her husband was on disability for quite a while and she does okay but does not earn a huge salary. There's a reason she's still working beyond general enjoyment of the job.

I think the cultural differences were huge. She's an East Coaster and he's a hick from Indiana, whom she wrongly thought was a restauranteur with some sophistication. I really hate the faux packaging of the leads on this show.

lol @ hick! I love this word. I’ll be saying it more often.

He also looks so different IRL. They really did package him for the show, cosmetically and in terms of biography.
