I had the feeling that the "drama" between Kathy and Teresa bothered Gerry. He said something like things don't always look like what they appear to be, like it raised a red flag to him. Or maybe I'm reading too much into his comment. At any rate, Teresa annoys me because she's so confident she's the one for him. |
I think people are natually asking: "what happened on your date" or how did your date go," or "what did Gerry say to you?" (When he was seen coming back to the party with Theresa)...and then Theresa answers ...and Kathy freaks out that it sounds a lot better than what she has going with Gerry. |
His aww shucks nature would drive me crazy. It seems very sincere and kind but would get so boring
Also I’m curious if he is willing to move? Or are all these women willing to move? Or do they not even think about that yet? Their age seems like a time you’d want to settle into a climate/city you like and/or people that are important to you - not move someplace random for one person. |
He's very Midwestern. Which makes sense as he is from Indiana. |
Theresa thought she had a level of friendship intimacy with Kathy, but Kathy's jealousy couldn't handle it. Even the silver goddess Edith said it was jealousy.
Kathy comes back with a rose and says how Gerry is such a grest guy and deserves the best...and Theresa immediately responds "so do you!". Then asks to talk to her. Kathy turns to the group of women behind Theresa's back and makes a grimace to the group. Theresa starts off with " you know I love you and I was surprised what April said to me..." Then Kathy breaks in with "you've made me feel like you are dismissing me because you and Gerry are riding off into the sunset and I should just pack my bags and leave". (Way to play the victim Kathy) Theresa responds "oh my god, I'm so sorry.." Kathy says "no. Don't cry. When you say things like you guys have a huge connection, that's the kind of stuff that feels posseessive, territorial, and get the hell out of my way, he's mine!" (Over reacting and making it personal when it isn't) All the while Theresa is saying "I don't think that, no...I feel horrible, I ferl horrible." While Kathy lectures Theresa that "what comes out of our mouths is our responsibiliy..." and refuses to accept her apology. Then Faith says she has bern in the same room and didn't think Theresa was boasting and Faith thinks things have just been misconstrued. Theresa being the bigger person later says that she said thongs she shouldn't have said, she had a good relationship with Kathy and hopes to have that again. She calls Kathy a good person and hopes they can be friends agsin. In reality, Kathy is not a good person when she feels threatened..and she is threatened by Theresa. |
This. Kathy is a manipulative person who attacks the minute she feels threatened and then she plays the victim. So gross. |
Too bad Joan from Rockville Md had to go home for family reasons. She seemed like a likely good match. |
Yes her dance at the talent show was embarrassing to watch. He said at the beginning that his children were encouraging him to do this show. It was just not appropriate and lacked subtle creative nuances …. |
I don't think she did at all. Real life relationships need more than being vulnerable and trauma bonding to go anywhere. |
There was farting at the end of the last episode. I knew it was coming cuz these Fockers be old. Soon, the denture cream and Ben gay is coming. Very loud TV, losing the remote, back problems, Depends. I love this show… |
Obviously we're not seeing everything that's happening and everything they're talking about, but there's got to be something beyond "We both lost our spouses", "You're really so great", "Thank you for saying that, YOU'RE so great", "I really want to open myself up to love again", "It's so wonderful that you're willing to open yourself up to me", clutch hands, stare at each other... So far I've only seen Gerry get beyond that and have some semblance of a normal conversation with Theresa, Leslie and Ellen. And I get the sense that he's not attracted to Ellen, much as he might want to be. And that he's very attracted to Leslie but ultimately their energies and vibes are off. I think Theresa is the best fit for him. They're close in age, seem attracted to each other, have things in common, have similar energy, and actually seem to have fun when they're together. |
True, very good point. It's been nothing but generic platitudes for the most part. Will be interesting to see if it gets more real. |
NP. Perhaps Joan decided to go home because she realized either she or Gerry would need to leave their families to be with the other, and she wasn't willing to make that move. Sure, her daughter needed her, but it didn't seem so urgent, or her daughter so isolated, that she needed to pack up that day. Maybe, though, her daughter's issues drove home the idea that Joan would need to move to Indiana permanently, and she realized she wasn't willing to do that.
I wish the woman with the fabulous grey hair had stayed. But she (and Sandra) were getting zero air time. There may be a back story, but we don't know it. |
Leslie is far too young, hip, energetic, and frankly, cool, for Gerry. She must just be in this for the publicity because it's clear she has absolutely nothing in common with him at all. I can't imagine what someone like her sees in him, he's so boring and stable and he can't dance at ALL. |
Agreed. |
