It's interesting that they included a lot of information in the press release - but they didn't include the information about what the traffic stop was for. I, for one, would certainly like to know what it was for. It's not like a you can know or even presume, just from looking at a car going by, that the driver has a learner's permit which they are driving in violation of.

My guess is they wanted this to highlight that stops can lead to guns and drugs and not make it super-inflammatory

They know Jawando dropped this bill. Saying it was window tint would really be an f-you. driving with an invalid learner's permit is the arrestable offense.

It's all on data montgomery though. and he got destroyed with criminal charges, which are posted on case search montgomery. He's not going anywhere any time soon.

It is about time the police start releasing this type of info about their work. Jawando and the anti police crowd have been controlling the entire narrative for the past three years, so when that's all people hear, they assume it must be true. and it's not. good policing helps keep the community safe.

Please, MCPD has absolutely no problem saying f-you to councilmembers and anyone else who wants police accountability. They didn't say they stopped the car for window tint because they didn't, and there are limits to how much MCPD can lie. It is probably a citation that was tacked on to all the others after they stopped the vehicle. Most likely, this stop was part of a larger investigation and they knew exactly who they were stopping.
