slur during last nights FCPS Board mtg

That statement is amazing in its cluelessness. It ignores that keys gamarra said it at least three times and blames Sizemore heizer for calling out the offensive behavior.

I would be interested in knowing who besides sujatha hampton thought this statement was a good idea. It’s absolutely unprincipled.

KKG’s attitude is pervasive at Gatehouse. This is not a shocking episode.

Anyone who has sat in an FCPS IEP meeting should know that FCPS looks down on the needs and abilities of children with disabilities.

Sujatha Hampton to WTOP last year:

But one of her most important responsibilities is to hold those in charge at Fairfax County Public Schools accountable.

She said that even though she has a good relationship with Superintendent Scott Brabrand, she still has to hold him accountable because “he’s responsible for other people’s children.”

“You can’t be allowed to feel comfortable if you’re in a position of authority over children,” Hampton said. “You are not holding that trust as sacred as I do, or as we should. That’s not my job, to make you feel comfortable.”

Such hypocrisy. Shameful

“A new survey of the top 150 colleges in the United States found that nearly 25 percent of students believe it is acceptable to use violence to shut down a controversial speaker on campus.

At several elite women’s colleges, the number shockingly jumps to nearly 50 percent.”

There was an incident at W&M last month. A pro-choice student was arrested and charged with assault after throwing urine (yes, urine) at a group of pro-choice/anti-abortion students. I don't care what side of the issue you're on, throwing urine at people you disagree with is gross and unacceptable.

+1
What is wrong with these loons? They actually think that their stance is "righteous" enough to allow them to get away with violence, assault, etc. I would like to tell young people (and some older people) collectively to GROW THE HELL UP!

The revised statement is still up. You had me hoping that someone at rhe NAACP had developed a brain and a conscience. But nope — they’re still out there defending their friends and attacking anyone who disagrees with them.

They may have decided to make further edits to the letter. The substance is the same, but some of the sentences appear to have been edited.

Noticed they call the current School Board "completely dysfunctional and never * * * capable of strong actions on behalf of the community it purports to serve."

Many would agree with that assessment, although perhaps not for the same reasons espoused by the Fairfax NAACP.

Of note is the vicious attack on Sizemore Heizer as if she was the perpetrator and Keys Gammarra was the victim. A couple of lines on KKG and a whole para throwing up on RSZ.

Just coming here to say exactly this! Amazing how they completely deflected from KKG's slur to raking RSZ over the coals - for calling out KKG! I mean, seriously? Take a seat, NAACP.

What a bunch of losers - every one of them. So glad my child will be graduating this year.

That NAACP letter reads like a declaration of war.

This degree of ridiculous in-fighting couldn’t have happened to a more deserving group of individuals.

Seriously. They fight over things that don't amount to much and ignore things that matter. They deserve to have to spend time with each other; the rest of us have largely tuned out of their inane deliberations.

God, I wish their election was next week.

They don't represent all POC by any stretch of the imagination.

Their press release shows they are basically bullies who will bend every principle to protect their own and viciously attack anyone who does not fall in line with them. Their fringe views on many matters does not represent the mainstream - certainly not in the case of Gammara versus Sizemore-Heizer.
