I feel so sad for the agoraphobic life you're still leading. It must be petrifying (not to mention miserable) to live with so much anxiety. Good luck. Hopefully one day you can join us in the present.

Same old idiots. No one is terrified but you. Why does a mask scare you so much?

DP. I’m not scared of masks, but they’re terribly uncomfortable (particularly in the summer) and I can’t see when I wear them due to my glasses fogging up. If I want to have any hope of seeing, I need to use thin, single-layer masks without the filters, in which case they’re not doing much anyway. So I do t wear them.

This means that your mask does not fit correctly.

I mean, you’re not wrong, but all the more reason to not bother with masks.

Just like the fact that it’s hard to find well-fitting underwear means that we should give up on the expectation that people cover their genitals in public, eh?

Except there’s no longer any expectation that people wear masks in public.

I do have a single-layer mask that I can put on when I need one. It covers my mouth and nose, but is sufficiently breathable with the filter removed that things go right through it.

I guess you weren’t wearing your masks well enough. You'll just have to stay in your basement now so that you never get sick again.

We have no restrictions

If you take a sick day from work bc you have a cold is your work requiring you submit proof of negative test before you return to work? No adult I know has to do this. If you are an adult, it is up to you if you want to test or not. You have the ability to stay home for a day or two, not test then come back the day you are feeling better, maybe you had/have covid, maybe not. As an adult, if you feel heathy you are expected to be at work and no one is asking otherwise. No one is regulating adults in the workplace the way we are regulating kids at school and at camps. At least last school year they couldn’t. Every sniffle required a covid negative confirmation.

No, this variant is just that contagious. I always wear a mask indoors. Always. And I only wear ASTM level 3 certified surgical masks that have saved me countless times as a teacher with very close exposure to positive kids. This variant got me, and I’m pretty sick right now with a fever and every other symptom despite 3 vaccines and prior infection with the January Omicron.

Wow. A fever. That is serious.

I hope your will is in order.

Sadly nothing to explain. Probably got it at the pool. Clearly you can get it outdoors. Kids have not been inside anywhere in weeks and one parent a few quick store visits masked like to get medicine. Otherwise we’ve been home.

That is not a restriction that is a precaution. Even a cold generally does not last a day. Work should ask for a negative test. Good for them.

Since we are at home, now would be a good time to start digging out a basement since we don’t have one. After being sick for weeks I’m all for hiding in a basement. The space would be really nice right now.

If I don’t go anywhere, why would I be masking?

Apparently masking isn’t enough. So it’s either accepting that people get sick from time-to-time, or live in your own bubble.

Literally no one is asking for a negative test. Not school or work.

I'm sorry pp. That sounds miserable.

Nearly every summer camp did this summer. Lots of kids missed out on summer camp of symptomatic covid or being a close contact and the camp not allowing them to attend.

As long as hospitalizations don't go up, I'm not concerned. But I do wear a mask indoors, because I don't want to waste my time having COVID for a week. I have better things to do.
