There has been reporting about a graze wound suffered by a Burke student. Nonetheless it is unseemly for someone not a member of the immediate family to state the location in the school where the student reportedly was shot, assuming that information is even correct. The internet is forever and the student is only 12. Let her own her own narrative with some dignity. |
Really good article. Made me tear up. All those poor students, teachers and parents living through that. |
Students, faculty and staff were each exceptional in their own right. It is however terribly disheartening when students who were in kindergarten at the time of Sandy Hook almost instantaneously knew they were under fire, to respond by seeking cover and then barricade themselves in classrooms and closets while frantically texting families with real-time thoughts that might be the last they would ever be able to communicate, not knowing if the shooter was inside the school. They did so instinctually, even in the absence of direction by an adult. Some tried calling 911 but were met with a minutes-long wait with a looping message due to the apparent volume of calls. Others then knew to text “50411.” It speaks highly of our children but serves as an indictment of our country and it’s purported “rights” and “values.” |
| Did the shooter live in the apartment he did the shooting from ??? All I see are reports that he's from Virginia... was it a friend or family members apartment ??? |
Whose apartment was it ??? |
Where do we think this is? “Allison knew Spencer for three years, in grades 6 through 8. They attended the same Catholic school in Rockville, Maryland, which she said was “known for being tough in discipline, but also having really good academics.” The student body was very diverse, because tuition was more reasonable than other schools in the area, according to Allison.” |
Why does it matter at this point? |
If it wasn't his apartment, how was he able to stockpile all the weapons without the owner/renter of the apartment noticing. |
The apartment was characterized by law enforcement as “sparsely furnished” with a mattress on the floor. Check out the photo. A couple of cheap folding tables. More than likely nobody else was ever there. And weapons/ammo didn’t necessarily have to be stored there for an extended period. What’s the point? |
Not the PP but I think it’s interesting as to whether he rented/sublet that apartment to target Burke, or whether he rented it independently and Burke was just a shiny thing in his sightline. |
I was wondering why they said he was from Fairfax and then announced that they found him dead in his apartment in DC. By the way, is the young man white? |
no |
How do we know it was even Raymond Spencer in that apartment? How did he get the guns etc. inside? Did other residents ever see him? Reports from neighboring units? The silence on this is strange, no? How about info from the landlord or property manager re this unit. I don't think it's an inexpensive rental. What's the story? Without those details, this story has a huge hole. |
It's likely that legitimate reporters are waiting until they have legitimate facts to report. this is a discussion board. WaPo is not. |
Fairfax City or County? If this is an important detail, they need to be clear. Otherwise, it's just reporting to report something. "We have a scoop!" |
