Clarifying that this is not Muslim belief. It is a Nation of Islam belief. At best, the Nation of Islam would be considered a heretical Muslim sect. |
That view might be true internationally. But NOI is mainstream in the USA. |
The fact that it is mainstream in the US does not bear on the fact that NOI is not orthodox Islam. |
That has no bearing on the NOI poster found on the shooter’s apartment wall. |
|
Followers of the NOI aren’t posting on 4chan or hanging this characature on their walls.

NOI is NOT mainstream in America. They literally have 50,000 adherents or less in the U.S. today. They peaked at 250,000 followers in the 1970s and have been declining ever since. Jews for Jesus has supposedly 100,000 adherents and in no way would I ever call them "mainstream." |
This article references everything that MSM is leaving out. Again, why isn’t this being reported? |
| A Filipino-American is not likely to be a follower of Louis Farrakhan (or Elijah Muhammad for that matter). Do we think he was a fervent believer in the black separatist movement? |
Why does there seem to be so little reporting or any information reaching the public here? This whole situation seems unnecessarily mysterious. |
No one posting here believes that. I believe he was using that poster as an anti-black meme as used in 4chan. Read the guardian article for more explanation. |
The fact that the ATF and the FBI were called in so quickly makes me think there is a lot more to this than we might ever know. I’m mostly concerned with who funded this shooter and how much of a threat do they pose in the future? And how do we keep the crazies from breeding on 4chan?!? |
Today's WaPo has a good article on the details of the shooting, and the status of the investigation. I'm a Burke parent and it tracks with what we've been told. Also, advising my HS kid not to read it. The photos alone are very upsetting. |
| Unfortunately those chilling photos were necessary for people to understand what actually happened. It’s taken 3 weeks to get an accurate representation. We are also a Burke family and it’s chilling to know the shooter was still alive while students and staff were huddled in the alley waiting to get shuttled to the library. Still wrapping my mind around the fact that we live in an area with the need for full time jobs just to investigate mass shootings. |
The WaPo article definitely tried to state the facts strictly from what police shared. We all know what they mean when they say someone believed conspiracy theories about child pornography, so why not call it what it is? And why not state what kind of meme that poster is used for on 4chan? And how do the police still not have his cell phone! That makes me SO angry. And how do they not know how he paid for his apartments? Do both apartment complexes have such bad record keeping that they can’t figure that out? It feels like this is moving very slowly. We need to understand why to move on. Should we live in fear that crazy internet people funded his operation and will take over where he left off? There has to be something we can glean from this tragedy to prevent the next one. |

Could you please explain what you are trying to say here? I honestly do not understand. But it does seem important. |
