The initial report is two adults were critical but stable. No updates from school or MPD. Horrific situation.

Latest I saw, yes-but define OK right? What does our city do specifically for crime victims, mounting at an alarming rate. I'm curious if there is a fund or other resources as they /their families rebuild.

DC Superior Court has a crime victim compensation fund. A retired LEO may have access to additional benefits through the union.

To me, it seems like there's been an odd lack of second-day news on the shooting. How are the victims doing, and are they connected with Edmund Burke or were they just random passers-by? What more have police found out about the shooter? Any hero stories of people protecting others from harm as shots were spraying through the alley and into the walkway?

Or we could simply respect the privacy of victims of a mass shooting. They can choose whether or not to speak out when ready (assuming the best).

Yes they are connected. Either students, staff or family picking up at carpool. Law enforcement still hasn’t authorized anyone to return to pick up their vehicle or belongings. One staff member left their car running as the shots started

Yes just got that update and just saw the NY Post article. I didn’t realize Yakub was an anti-Black meme. So disgusting.

I don't see anything new in the NY Post article, nor anything about Yakub, whatever that is.

WTOP was quoting MPD yesterday with the following information (for completeness):
The four victims were a 54-year-old man who is a retired police officer, a woman in her 30s, a woman in her mid-60s who was grazed by a bullet, and a 12-year-old girl who was shot in the arm. Assistant Police Chief Stuart Emerman said at a news conference earlier Friday evening that they were stable. The two adults had critical injuries and the girl had minor injuries.

Well written story. The best so far to explain where this happened. So many news reports make it seem like it wasn’t a school shooting.

Was the 12 year old girl a Burke student? The police chief said in one of his statements that no one inside the building was shot, but a parent who called into Fox 5 mentioned a girl inside the building (on the walkway) who had an injury to her arm.

“Blasted out emails” seems like a really … unfortunate … choice of words for this reporting.
