Nothing. These HS principals, coaches, and parents are working off emotion. I don't have a dog in this fight but FCPS can't do anything now. A court has ruled on the injunctuon. If FCPS tries to act they will just be sued too. The time for FCPS to act was earlier. Now they have to wait until Dec. 4 like everyone else.

FCPS could conduct a real investigation, but they won't. The schools could boycott the playoff games.

That also costs money I as a parent prefer they not spend because my girls go to a FCPS school. Football impacts a small subset of the FCPS population who don't want money going towards an investigation. If Fairfax City who called on it wants to fund it then sure, do the investigation.

Do you not realize how much FCPS is spending right now to do it wrong? The ask is to spend the money appropriately and not continue to waste how they are.

What money is FCPS spending? They did an investigation in the summer. They spent money then. Then VHSL came in (their money). Then Hayfield appealed (maybe FCPS but likley just a letter by principal alone since it was not written like a lawyer touched it). Then Hayfield appealed again. Then Hayfield parents sued VHSL. FCPS has been out of this thing since the summer. Using the same lawyer/law firm does not mean FCPS paid for it.

Having grown up in Texas, I thought it was. But I am floored at these shenanigans - and getting away with it, too. Maybe public school sports and courts are ridiculous in Virginia!

Fairfax schools are scared and soft. You won't find any 757 Tidewater schools bowing and forfeiting. We know Oscar Smith and Highland Springs are powerhouses, but we will line up shoulder to shoulder, pads to pads, helmet to helmet, and play them for four quarters.

We won't hide behind coaches, parents, and lawyers, because we're too scared....

I’m on the fence, I get it, you’re taking an ethical and moral stand here

On the other hand, you play you lose you lose what if you play hayfield and you win

I rather think the southeast VA schools will take hayfield to school in the larger bracket that’s just my thinking

I will say again that if all the games were played this week and hayfield lost the dec 4 hearing won’t happen

If they win it will still happen but it could still end with them continuing to play.

When is the state final, I thought it was always first week of December but now it’ll be a week later because of this round happening a week later correct

So I guess my thought is this. Get to the 12/4 hearing and hayfield has what 1 maybe 2 more games…does anyone really think the court says no no no you can’t play seems unlikely to be honest.

Anyway this is all very entertaining, I guess I’m at the point where I’m a bit more just play the damn games already and settle this stuff on the field. You don’t think those other seven teams and coaches and the down south schools won’t go for blood. I know they will maybe they lose but I don’t think anyone is looking at their team and saying be scared, I’m think they’re all telling their team if we play them they hurt us the first time now let’s go kick their ass, shut them up, and send them packing. Then for your basketball and other sport players when you hit the fields or the mat the track the court you play hayfield this year and you bring the hurt as payback. You let those other hayfield athletes know it’s not personal but it’s about sending a message to the people in charge about what’s right and what’s wrong.

I was already to clap at this until this. Let's hurt those Hayfield lacrosse girls because of what the boys did in football sounds ridiculous and like a child. But I support everything else you're saying.

It also appears schools are still contemplating a boycott. What a mess.

Source?

The schools threatening are irrelevant. They don’t have the talent to beat Hayfield. They can go out there and have fun, but their chances of winning are slim.

If the schools in the south side of the bracket all boycott, that could shake things up. But those school probably won’t because those teams are more competitive and most of them feel they are capable of beating Hayfield. Heck Madison or W&L isn’t going to take a forfeit either. They probably don’t want to play Hayfield, but I would be surprised if they let the outside drama get in the way of them giving their best effort in their championship runs.

Totally disagree. I'm in 6C and the parents and coaches on this team have already spoken about it and will forfeit if it comes to playing against Hayfield.

Great! Bye!

They play in the weakest district by far. Not even close. In other sports they steamroll until the playoffs and then get absolutely smacked. Happens every year, every sport, and this is the first year it won’t happen to their football team.

The bravado on this thread is a little ridiculous. Do your talking on whatever your athletic field is or discuss the merits of the case.

My coaches always taught me that good teams focus on their own game and let their play speak for itself. Posting on DCUM is the opposite of how athletes win games.

Parents and coaches are posting here. But plenty seem ready to suit up I guess

Almost as ridiculous as VHSL saying lets ban the football team because a player ran track.

That ten page letter from the principal to vhsl was 100% drafted by an attorney.

Maybe the lacrosse players should MAN UP and put on some shoulder pads and a helmet. Then your football team won't finish with a 3-7 record and sob crocodile tears how they are being cheated out of a playoff spot. Ha ha!

I don't think this is fair. I am not on anyone's side here. I think the whole thing is insane from the Hayfield people and those against but reading this thread the people crying are not from Robinson. It's keyboard warriors crying on "Robinson's behalf" without Robinson asking them to. A parent has come on here serveral times to make this clear. I believe them. All the spewing is coming from others.

You need to realize the “Hayfield” name is stained b/c of this. It extends beyond football, even to academics. That is why the principal must be fired. He/she/they is derelict for not firing Overton at least when the ban came from VHSL.

Kids don't post here. All the incomprehensible Hayfield posts are from actual adults. Disturbing.
