"I am ashamed that the actions of Kentucky Catholic high school students have become a contradiction of the very reverence for human life that the march is supposed to manifest. As such, I believe that U.S. Catholics must take a look at how our support of the fundamental right to life has become separated from the even more basic truth of the dignity of each human person."

"it astonishes me that any students participating in a pro-life activity on behalf of their school and their Catholic faith could be wearing apparel sporting the slogans of a president who denigrates the lives of immigrants, refugees and people from countries that he describes with indecent words and haphazardly endangers with life-threatening policies."

How many illegal migrants is the good bishop housing? Surely he can sacrifice a few of his own creature comforts, no?

Seriously.

Let's try this again...and see how does your logic holds up.

Whoopi Goldberg is on The View

Joy Behar is on the The View

They're ok with blackface.
Therefore "The View" = scum

Wow. I truly hope this has been aired everywhere. I don't want to hear another word from Goldberg or Behar on the subject of blackface.

He never explains what "actions" of the students he is ashamed of. Seems his big beef is that they were wearing MAGA hats.
I don't remember him drafting a similar letter of condemnation as children donned vagina hats and such when their mothers took them to the Women's March.

Excellent point. And great article, too.

In fact I once happened to chat with one of these guys that believe that AAs are the superior race and whatnot, and while he was batshit crazy, he was not scary or intimidating and we had a decent back-and-forth.

Why would you even engage? And had the high school kids "engaged" with the "bhi," then they would have been accused of instigating something. They can't win, so why even try?

Have you seen any of the videos? If your kid was in the crowd, you'd be proud of that behavior?

Not saying it's the worst thing in the world, but it's certainly shameful behavior on such a day in such a place. It wasn't a pep rally before a basketball game. Of course, then they'd be in blackface...

You know.... if they were actually in the memorial building, I think you would have more of an argument. Cheering in the memorial building is not appropriate. But, they weren't. They were at the foot of the steps waiting for their bus.
And, yes, I watched several of the videos. And, the kids were cheering to drown out the hateful words of the Black Hebrew Israelites. An appropriate thing to do given their smears, language, and insults.
Had my son been present, I would have had no problem at all with the behavior I saw.

Same here. I'd far rather hear a loud school chant drowning out a bunch of bigots yelling homophobic slurs and threats at anyone who comes near them.

Because they're threating my fundamental rights.

No one is threatening your fundamental rights, moron. And I'm pro-choice. Everyone's allowed to express their POV, including March for Lifers.

are you talking about the Parkland kdis.. yes, they have received death threats for almost a year. Sad.

Difference is, is those kids inserted themselves into the public eye while the Covington kids had the crooked media do it for them.

OMG, the fact that you would blame them for being in the public eye after they suffered through a SCHOOL SHOOTING tells me all I need to know about you. You don't care about the kids at the rally, either, you just use them to advance your right-wing narrative.

Shame on you.

They chose to be in the public eye and use the tragedy as a platform to threaten the constitutional rights of people who were not involved in the shooting

They were responsible for the boys and let them enter and remain in that situation. They should have steered clear of BHIs. They should have shut down DB behavior.

What, exactly, did these boys do that has offended your delicate sensibilities? No one has been able to get beyond, "But he *SMIRKED*!!"
-They were standing in a group, waiting for their ride, removed from the bigoted bhi (what an insult to true Hebrew Israelites, btw), watching from a distance as the a-hole bhi (not deserving of capitalization) spewed their hatred.
-Phillips decided for some unknown reason - need for attention? drama? - to insert himself into the middle of their group, fixated on the one boy.
-The boy quietly stood his ground and did nothing more than maintain eye contact with Phillips (and smile! the nerve!) as Phillips banged his drum right in his face, in the boy's personal space.

I can definitely see why you're so outraged.
-DP

Mocking an Indian chant, tomohawk, act like fools tearing off their shirt, cat calling girls, defending black face,

You are truly spluttering now. Just grasping for anything to be outraged by. Bottom line, the group of boys didn't surround anyone. They stayed where they had originally been standing and the NA pushed his way into their group. Get over it.

Nope. Anyone who disagrees must be destroyed. Figuratively, for now, until we can do it literally.

Did anyone catch the story about how the day AFTER the face-off on Friday with the boys that the NA drum beater guy and ~20 others went into a Mass at the Shrine and disrupted it?

This guy is a professional provocateur. He hates Catholics.

He's a religious bigot

Wow. That needs to be widely publicized. He also changes his story every time he's interviewed.

Good thing there were security officers to protect the church folks from an attack by these racist crazies. Every Catholic Church should be getting security these days. The hate is real.

This happened the very next day AFTER the MFL event, and NO MEDIA coverage at all. Zip. Nada. None.
