Official Brett Kavanaugh Thread, Part 4

Do you remember why Bill Clinton was impeached? Was it not for lying? Why should Judge Kavanaugh be any different? If he lies in his SJC testimony he should go.

Random note: did you all know Rosenstein and Kavanaugh are both Starr protégés and Federalists? But look at how differently they have behaved under intense pressure. Just saying.

He was not “involved in bar fights.” He happened to be present.
He never lied about his drinking.
He did not attack Ford.

The only truth you have stated is that he pledged a fraternity.

I just find it annoying that have to take a break from my work to post on here, but here you are sitting in Russia earning a paycheck for this crap.

Ah, yes! The trusty "Russian" fallback when you can't come up with anything clever. Never gets old, does it?

It's over. This means FBI didn't find anything new and McConnell has the votes. He will be confirmed this week.

Nah. McConnell wants this over with. The longer it drags on, the worse it gets. He doesn't have the votes, he just wants this done.

Pundits suggest that if the GOP doesn't confirm Kavanaugh it will actually deepen the blue wave. I know polling today contradicts that - so hard to predict or understand.

There are others who actually deserve to be on that court. Anyone else would be better.

Correction: 7 of the justices are praying he doesn’t get conformed. Thomas will finally have a fellow pervert to hang with and be besties.

Seriously, the SC justices must be angry that he might taint the court they have such respect for. I would love to know their thoughts. Too bad they don't have a vote. NG a fellow GP must be angry that kavanaugh exposed GP.

Manchin looks like he is going to vote yes. It is crap like "35 yrs of service, blah blah blah"
I could vomit.

For those of us who spent three God Awful years studying law and two decades practicing it, and really care about our justice system, this isn’t about winning or “owning” the other side. Kavanaugh would permanently damage the Supreme Court. Not because he makes it more conservative. But because he would make it just another partisan political institution. The federal judiciary is bigger than any one person. And no one person should be able to drag it down.

I'm not a lawyer and I was Republican until about the time Flynn was charged. I agree with you. Well said. This is not a "go team" football game. This is a fundamental institution. I hope we can make it less partisan.

Can a SC justice be impeached?

The friend who she supposedly "coached" is a retired FBI agent and she has issued a statement definitely denying the ex-boyfriend's story:

“I have NEVER had Christine Blasey Ford, or anybody else, prepare me, or provide any other type of assistance whatsoever in connection with any polygraph exam I have taken at anytime.”

If the GOP was so concerned that Ford lied they'd have her recalled for an interview and they have the FBI interview the friend. Neither is happening so this is a BS issue that's being thrown out for morons like you to chew on.

So funny! I thought a "BS issue that's being thrown out for morons like you to chew on" would be the absurdity that is Kavanaugh's high school yearbook, and the slang terms that keep you people up at night.

That doesn't make sense to me. I would think republicans would grow happy and complacent with Kavanaugh getting confirm, while democrat activism would increase.

The White House isn't on immediate damage control, so perhaps the report doesn't have anything new.

Sigh. I hope Collins, Murkowski, and Heitkamp see their way through this. Flake will probably be a yes.

As a Mainer, I have no faith in Collins.

Just admit that you like your supreme court justices to be liars.

It's never happened yet. Or at least, one was impeached but not removed. None have ever been impeached and removed.

He did this without the FBI information, which in and of itself is wholly incomplete, thanks to the restrictions the White House put on the extended investigation.

This is so shameful, I weep for our country.

Anyone who supports this can go to hell.

Yup. I just feel sick to my stomach.

What about Sasse? Sounds like a No to me
"I urged the president to nominate a different individual. I urged the president to nominate a woman," Sasse said.
