In plain view, on stage.

I really do not see how any responsible adult could give that man a job as dog catcher (let alone leader of the free world)!

yet he's ahead in PA, GA, NC. How, how, how? I'll never ever understand.

The Biden-Harris administration is terrible. They have decreased our standard of living with inflation. They have allowed millions of illegal immigrants to invade our country. I wouldn’t vote for either of them if my life depended on it. I think they’re destroying the country. When I voted early the other day, several other voters I spoke to told me the same thing.

If you're struggling in this economy, that's really on you. It'll be fun watching you resisting the urge to complain when Trumpflation flattens you.

Exhibit A of why Trump (a horrible candidate) is probably going to win. A lot of families are struggling in this economy and Dems are completely tone deaf on this. Look at the polling. .

People may be struggling but it isn't because of the economy, which is objectively strong. Corporate greed is the problem for the working class, and Trump wants to give the corporations and the wealthy more. He has no answers for the working class. He's offered literally nothing but platitudes and riling up anger. Meanwhile, the Harris campaign has actual answers and plans to help the working class, but some of them are too riled up by Trump to hear it. What can be done about that when people refuse to listen to what the other candidate is actually saying?

Hasn't he already debated twice? Hardly being afraid. At this stage, it would be dumb to do another, regardless of whether he was "afraid," because it appears he is winning. There is a reason Harris is trying to change the script of recent. They know they are in trouble.

Trump is terrified. Confident people don’t back out of events last minute and cower in safe spaces.

Tell me you didn't watch the Al Smith dinner last night without telling me....

He’s only going to speak to friendly audiences on his terms because the campaign has realized there’s nothing to be gained from doing the traditional media circuit. He’s not trying to persuade anyone, just trying to get out the base enough to win. And he’s (still, despite formerly being president and having run for president constantly for about a decade!!!) not held to the same norms for campaigning and events as every other politician.

But he even canceled his NRA appearance

^ Also I thought his whole thing is that he is trying to activate a bunch of unreliable voters. He can't win with just the base unless Ds REALLY don't show up.

The Al Smith dinner is a safe space. He was reading off his notes. He gets to attack his opponents (without taking any digs at himself, which is supposed to be the point of the whole thing in the first place) under the guise of being funny.

I don’t know that the NRA has as much sway anymore as they used to and, yeah, with him being low energy and not campaigning as much, some tough choices have to be made. But in general - he’s only going to go to the friendliest of friendly audiences and cancel everything else (and maybe a few friendly audiences get cancelled too as collateral).

Why would I watch an event with a bunch of old farts patting themselves on the back? It’s a relic of an event and Trump only went because he still can’t get over the fact that New York society has rejected him bigly.

But I did see the clip of his speech. He was hesitant and shaky - and it wasn’t a tough crowd. The GOP should not have chosen such an elderly candidate.

You're not really providing any insight. You're just saying "he canceled because he's canceling a lot of things" - yeah, he's canceling a lot of things! Why did he make all these engagements if he thinks he doesn't need to go out and be in front of people in various settings? He's canceling interviews with major networks; speeches in front of the NRA; podcast interviews with shows that are listened to by exactly the people he's trying to reach. I guess you could think this is his usual four dimensional chess? To the extent that the more people see him, the less they like him, I suppose that's possible?

He’s old and cranky. He’s hoping his Hail Mary of trying to corrupt the actual vote will keep him out of jail and grifting taxpayer dollars until his last breath.

But he’s already reminded everyone why we fired him in 2020.

Trump is closing in on 80 years old. He is going through the same infamous decline our current POTUS is going through. Debates are not what 80 year old people do well. Perhaps an 80 year can handle the duties of POTUS 3 or 4 days a week but not the required 7 days a week. Trump would simply Biden 2.0 if elected and on top of the Biden brain, Trump also has the lack of integrity problem. I say no thank you to Trump. Please go fast away to an assisted living home with Biden.

That. That’s the insight. Media doesn’t care, base doesn’t care, he’s not held to the same standard as any other candidate so why put himself out there too much and risk a bad gaffe or a worsening of his physical/mental condition?
