Since 2016 we have been predicting the end of the validity of polls. And yet that’s where the focus remains even when they are consistently wrong. I think it’s very seductive to believe we can know the future. I want to know too! But the polls defy common sense so it’s hard to believe they are accurate.

What is the alternative? Asking people on TikTok?

Not ask at all and just focus on issues and campaigning.

Media has gotten so blessed dumb. They could be talking about thousands of things - like women forced to carry their rapist’s pregnancy to term or women who were trying to have children dying for want of a simple abortion. Or the GOP’s ongoing and close relationships with Russia. The dark money that made the once Supreme Court into a political tribunal.

All sorts of things. But they need the polls to talk endlessly about nothing.
