Trump campaign death spiral

Why would he step down? His followers are thrilled that he’s running.

I imagine moderate Republicans prefer a different candidate, but I don’t think they are big enough / passionate enough to push Trump out. If they were, he wouldn’t be the candidate.

Why stand in the way of a train wreck?

But I agree that it’s a cult, and they won’t.

Haley didn't even come close in the primary. Why would she do better than Trump?

She would definitely debate circles around Harris but that's about it

Primaries are different from a general election. As every Republican should know, given your performance since 2018.

Can he withdraw just because he has become so pathetic?

He can withdraw for any reason.

He won't.

He must have some price. Find out what it is and pay it.

I would say that tweets like this do not suggest a lot of strength on the Trump side of things

His numbers are better than Kamala's state by state.

Nope.

Just the "red" states.

Who are the moderate republicans at this point?

When people like Cheney and Kintzinger, who are not moderate by pre-2020 standards, are kicked out of the party, there are no real moderates left.

I absolutely abhor Trump and am so excited about how things have turned the past couple weeks.

But I am also blue no matter who and this sentiment is incredibly similar to what was being said on "our side" up until a couple weeks ago... and to some extent even now... I've seen people say "I'm out" if Shapiro is the Veep candidate and the response is 100% exactly the same as the above.

lol Haley? She is too busy writing “kill them all” on bombs used against children. Not a viable candidate.

The only one in a cult are people who don't support the people voting for their preferred candidate. The Democrat party elite threw their primary winner who was "As sharp as a tack" in the trash can just because he had one bad debate.

Honestly, it was a pretty bad and lopsided debate.

The comments under that tweet aren't a ringing endorsement of Trump. A lot of Republicans are pissed he's on the ballot.

If Shapiro is the VP the Dems lose. Shapiro is a hardcore Zionist extremist who has put Israel first on everything. It would be like putting Biden back on the Ticket.

That is exactly my point. Up until Biden dropped out, people on our side were saying things like that - and it betrayed weakness in our side. You shouldn't have to harangue people to vote for your candidate.

It's my chief reservation with Shapiro being the VP pick - is that after this incredible excitement and unity of the last, what, week and a half? We're going to end up back in that "don't be an idiot, of course you have to vote blue" thing instead of the "we're EXCITED to vote blue" thing.

Is this the same source as Harris is the border czar”?

Sounds like the GOP is scared of Shapiro
