Is it too late for him to be replaced? How can this be achieved?

Why would he be replaced?

It’s a cult. There is no measured replacement mechanism.

And it’s still a close race, sadly.

If the GOP were to replace Trump with Haley, the benefits for down ballot races and party longevity would be massive. I also think there would be an easier path to victory for Haley than there is to Trump.

But I agree that it’s a cult, and they won’t.

The GOP can't replace Trump any more than the Democrats could replace Biden - he has to step down voluntarily.

There's a difference though - When Biden retires he'll go back to Delaware to spend time with his family. If Trump steps down he'll give up his best chance at staying out of prison.

Someone at the GOP would need to lead an effort, assemble the delegates and vote on a new candidate by August 7 - as the ballots start getting printed on the 8th.

But tease this out. The GOP is MAGA and MAGA=Trump.

Get rid of Trump and you lose 40% of your voting block.

Non-viable nationally or any swing state if the MAGAs stay home.

Good luck.

Sure he has dementia, but that is not new.

Can he withdraw just because he has become so pathetic?

He can withdraw for any reason.

He won't.

He's not going to be locked up.

Will he do community service? LOL

He could. But that would require self-reflection on his part and....he's not capable of that.

It would also be unprecedented. The Democrats could sue and tie the GOP up in court, given that the GOP has likely already begun the process of certifying the candidates to various Secretaries of State at the state level.

At the very least, Trump withdrawing would likely require that JD Vance be elevated to POTUS on the ticket for lots of practical and legal reasons. It's unclear how he would legally add a new VP after the GOP has already certified their candidates.

The rules for running for POTUS/VP really ought to be federalized. This 50 state + DC + territories patchwork of inconsistent rules is ridiculous.

His numbers are better than Kamala's state by state.

Carry him to term, Republicans.

Haley didn't even come close in the primary. Why would she do better than Trump?

She would definitely debate circles around Harris but that's about it
