This is why it’s almost comical when posters talk about a team having D1 commits. It matters who you commit to. Once you get below the top 30 D1 teams the talent level really starts to drop off. And when player commit to teams that are in the 60-123 range, while good players, they are not game changing players for their high schools. |
This is SO true about Woodson. "do anything to keep winning" Last season vs. my daughters team (Oakton,) there was some very shady things going on in the Press Box with the official timekeeper. Slow starting of the clock, to give Woodson some extra time late in the game. I can't believe the person has the audacity to pull a stunt like this , WHEN EVERYONE IN THE STADIUM CAN SEE IT!!!! Pretty blatant. The good news is, it did not affect the outcome of the game, as Oakton won 12-11, but they certainly tried. That's cheating, and the head coach and Athletic Director at Woodson needs to put a stop to it-- we will be watching closely, and the referees will be put on notice. Has anyone else experienced the unethical shenanigans when playing at Woodson? I heard the horn didn't blow at the table at halftime as time expired vs Robinson. In fact, the word on the street is the horn never sounded. Referees caught on to it. Robolax, can you confirm? Thanks. |
False lol. So many d1 commits that aren’t going “top” programs are their high schools most talented player. D1 is D1 and yes there is a drop off but you are totally wrong about a D1 commit not being majority of high schools best talent. |
For example.. someone going to Virginia tech.. Ohio State.. Mercer… coastal Carolina. You’re trying to tell me these girls aren’t most likely the game changer for their high school. Yeah right. |
Oh look this donkey is back. Colgan? Just shows you don't have a clue. |
Wasn't Woodson ahead at the half against Robinson last week? Why would Woodson give more time if they were ahead? I think you're fishing for excuses if Woodson wins. |
Okay, try to follow me here.... Because Woodson was on attack around the 8m and about to score just before the half, and they did not, even with a couple extra seconds wothout the horn ending the half. The horn is a key piece of the equation: Please pay attention: as long as the ball is out of the shooters stick before the horn sounds, the goal will count. I can guarantee that, if Robinson was threatening to score in the closing seconds, the home team clock operator would be right on the horn button as it hits :00, ( The horn NEVER sounded to end the half!!!) To say that he wouldn't be is simply foolish. That's how they do things at "The Pat", right UAO? ![]() Let's hope no unethical shenanigans occur tomorrow night. Big Brother is always watching... |
On the other side of the equation is Battlefield who has 1 Senior commit to a D3 and one Jr goalie committed D1. At high school level maybe they are defying the odds with 11 strong starters. They are young and will have multiple committed eventually but right now they are a all around cohesive unit that plays good lax together. |
They (BF) have a couple sophomores that will be D1 commits in about 4 months.

I would not expect the clock or calls to go my way at Woodson in a state playoff game. Too long a history of shady things. Woodson makes up 2-3 goals based off that which is why the line is pick ‘em. |
Colgan not going to win states but still in the upper 15%. Lot of donkey’s underestimated them. Only team that didn’t was Battlefield who did some serious game film and scouting and will make more game adjustments next re-match. Not taking them lightly like others. |
Well yes.. but Battlefield has a whole starting line up that competes with fairfax. |
The clock operator is supposed to be a GAME OFFICIAL. Not some biased , jaded Woodson parent. To do thatbwhilrle the entire stadium can see it is really stupid or incredibly ballsy. I might go up to the press box or scoretable and make sure they are paying attention and not cheating. It doesnt matter if it is a non district cintest or a VHSL State tournament game. Come on, Woodson Coaches, do the right thing tomorrow.- put a stop to the BullS#@&- it's really not a good look. 703.503.4600, 703.503.4682, the Principal and Athletic Directors phone number at Woodson, if you want to call in and express concerns about potential unethical practices, based on past history. |
Woodson has a special fund for game officials. I just hope Oakton's is bigger... |
I admit I was one of those donkey’s who under-estimated Colgan until I saw them play. Very similar in strength to Westfield who pulled biggest upset of the year over Madison. |
