source? I know that salesforce announced they will relocate anyone in their TX office out, but hadn't about the rest.

Elon Musk Tesla CEO tweeted in response that he would "prefer to stay out of politics" and that "the government should rarely impose its will upon the people."

"Technology related to women’s health may garner incredible attention as an opportunity for investment, drawing $1.31 billion in funding so far this year according to Pitchbook data, but women’s health as a moral prerogative has yet to seize the hearts and minds of the tech industry’s luminaries. Maybe next year."

He is a coward. This law is outrageous. Speak out or sell your cars to the people that don't care if you can find enough of them.

He wants low taxes and low regulation. That means a Republican state

Unless he wants low customers as well, he needs to register a strong objection to this situation and what he intends to do.

So, they're going to close their TX offices?
Apple’s billion-dollar Austin campus nearly finished, move-in date set https://www.kxan.com/news/business/apples-1b-austin-campus-nearly-finished-move-in-set-for-2022/
Block 185, Austin’s New ‘Google Tower,’ Officially Topped Out Downtown https://austin.towers.net/block-185-austins-new-google-tower-officially-topped-out-downtown/
Facebook expanding in downtown Austin https://www.bizjournals.com/austin/news/2021/07/22/facebook-austin-downtown-pflugerville-expansion.html

etc etc

^^^^^Google’s huge new office tower in Austin is almost finished. There’s no way they’re leaving.

Even if some of these companies did, most Austinites who have lived there most than 5 years would be thrilled. The population growth is out of hand and ruining (or, rather, has ruined) the city.

my kid loved a few colleges in conservative states but this was the straw that broke the camel's back for Texan schools on her list

I don't think she is alone is this. It will be revealing to see how this affects applications to some of the top texas schools that currently attract many out of state students. And how will it affect texas students...will they want to stay in the.xaa for college or will more look to apply elsewhere where the laws are not so backwards and draconian.

Yep, Texas riding on the wave of Austin and tech investment had a temporary cool factor among the HS/college kids I know but it has 100% reversed course.

+1, there is no shortage of growth in TX.

As an aside, I have a hard time believing that this issue is on the radar screen for most high school seniors making their lists. If a few drop off, it is not going to be noticed.

No, it's not.

Our senior has crossed Rice, WashU and Emory (among others) of their list. Fine if others want to be in those states, there are plenty of other good schools in places that don't have regressive local governments.

And fine if others want to base their college decisions on this one issue. People have crossed colleges off their list for all sorts of reasons, from dumb to reasonable.

Oh it most definitely fine to consider this issue.

A state that enacts a law that puts an untrained, unprofessional mob in charge of enforcement? No thanks. Signed, even HS students are smart enough to see the cra cra in that.

This one issue could get your kid killed. Sure it's a no brainer right?

Not to mention job opportunities will not be available at career day. Recruiting is dead from Texas colleges. This is just another of shoot of the horrific law. Going to college the idea is to get the best job right?

Stop with the hyperbole. Very few people are as emotionally invested in this as you obviously are. Most people don't care one way or the other.
