Texas Colleges/Universities Anyone?

I expect fewer applicants to colleges/universities in that state this year. We’ll have to see by how much.

well, if your DS gets a girl pregnant, and then drives her to get an abortion, he could be sued.

Even disregarding how foks feel personally about the law, it depresses interest in the state in general. It is considered such an extreme overreach that it drives away potential students, employers, employees, etc.

Yes, but it's a winner take all approach where the state government is committing clear overreach (and then gerrymandering and restricting voting to prevent Democrats from benefitting politically from people upset by the overreach).

Didn't see this thread until now, but literally said to my DH this morning that DS can't go to school in TX. I won't put him and in that position as a college student and while we have plenty of money to fly people anywhere for medical care eff if I'm going to deal with vigilantes looking for 10K.

Of course I will not encourage that. Along with handful of other, mostly Southern, states.

Survey: Two Thirds of College-Educated Workers May Avoid Texas Because Of Abortion Ban

Three quarters of all the women surveyed said SB 8 would discourage them from working in Texas; 73% said they wouldn’t even apply for a job in a state that passed a comparable ban. Among men, 58% said a state’s near-total abortion ban would discourage them from working there and 53% said they would not apply for jobs there. Concerns were especially high among younger workers: 73% of all Gen-Zers, those age 24 and younger, said they would not take a job in a state with a hostile reproductive health environment; 69% of Millennials said the same.

Elon Musk Tesla CEO tweeted in response that he would "prefer to stay out of politics" and that "the government should rarely impose its will upon the people."

"Technology related to women’s health may garner incredible attention as an opportunity for investment, drawing $1.31 billion in funding so far this year according to Pitchbook data, but women’s health as a moral prerogative has yet to seize the hearts and minds of the tech industry’s luminaries. Maybe next year."

He is a coward. This law is outrageous. Speak out or sell your cars to the people that don't care if you can find enough of them.
