He's not a loser/moocher. Read "A Place of Yes." Bethenny herself talks about how she couldn't have done it without Jason. For example, when she did "Skating with the Stars," he was doing all the child care. He schlepped the baby from NY to LA weekly so that Bethenny could do that show and still see her baby. Now, when she was on that show, she was on prime time network TV, reaching a new, non-Bravo audience and raising visibility for Skinnygirl. The brand grew bigger. Saying Jason--the good, stable parent--is a moocher is like saying all SAH spouses are moochers. |
Please. Luann's children are GROWN. College-age. |
I agree she's hurting, but I can't even feel sorry for her anymore. Her Hamptons party seemed like a metaphor for her life. Expensive, carefully planned, gorgeous to look at, and completely ruined by manufactured spectacle. She should really leave reality TV, but it would probably kill her Skinny Girl brand. |
She should just cash out and enjoy a nice life with her daughter, but she won't. She accused her own mother of being obsessed with money, men and food. Well, Bethenny, you are obsessed with fame, money and being "right." And your daughter is paying the price. |
She's created a machine that she needs to continuously feed. That can be very stressful. |
I think it's driving her around the bend. She wants to give her daughter a good life but has ramped up to a lifestyle that she can't maintain without RHNY. |
|
^^she did, she sold a big stake in her business. Skinny girl is as corporate as they come, but with her personal attachment to it, it's still essential that she be the face of the brand.
Seriously, do you think the cash machine empire is run out of that apartment office? |
He was doing all the childcare? That makes him father of the year?
|
No, it makes him worthy of some of her money. |
SOME. not a lot. her empire was well underway when they got married. i just can't believe she didn't sign an iron-clad prenup. |
She didn't sign a pre-nup because at that point her brand was NOT "well underway." She basically had the drink and a couple books about being skinny. She did not sell Skinnygirl to Jim Beam until she was married to Jason and at the time she gave him a lot of credit for helping her with that. |
As Andy Cohen would say, "here's what." Here's what: Bethenny would never gotten TWO spin-off shows without Jason. People loved the wedding and baby angle. She wouldn't have "had it all" without him, and the "had it all" was what the audience loved. Extra shows equals extra money and extra visibility and essentially advertising for her brand. He deserves a nice piece of the pie. |
| Agree to disagree then. I think people who are able bodied (male or female), get a divorce, and it wasn't a decade(s) long marriage shouldn't expect half of the other person's fortune. I read that she was paying him $26,000 a month between alimony and child support (for a kid they have joint custody of), not to mention he's living in the $5 million apartment SHE purchased. Do you think that's fair? |
I think it's half of his property because they were married. It's the knocks. Bethenny should have taken the high road during the divorce. From what I read, what set off the insanity was her initial play for sole legal/physical custody of their kid. That's was a hostile starting point. And they spent years fighting over custody before Bethenny dropped her bid (after testifying on the stand and giving the press her side of the story). Jason never testified in the custody hearing since she settled the joint custody issue (and tellingly he never went for anything except joint custody). Long story short, she isn't playing it smart despite her endlessly trying to sell her life, brand, etc. Her house is a mess. It's hard to buy into her giving endless advice. |
Yes just as I would think it's fair if the roles were reversed. He played a part in helping her build her empire. She did not secure it via pre nup. An apartment to keep his daughter in the manner to which she's accustomed isn't asking the world. He left his job for her to help with her company. |
