RHNY Season 8

I think people who are able bodied (male or female), get a divorce, and it wasn't a decade(s) long marriage shouldn't expect half of the other person's fortune. I read that she was paying him $26,000 a month between alimony and child support (for a kid they have joint custody of), not to mention he's living in the $5 million apartment SHE purchased. Do you think that's fair?

He quit his job to be her full-time business manager, playing an essential role in the success of her brand. He wasn't just a stay-at-home dad giving her encouraging back rubs - he was advising her, setting up contracts, negotiating deals. More than that, if it weren't for the reality shows about her marriage and baby, the brand never would have taken off.

Bethany must be hurting from her public on-going divorce (why doesn't she just settle and pay the loser, moocher POS off already). Buts he's hurting. she's in a tough place. Wasn't it last season where she just would sneak off and just cry?

He's not a loser/moocher. Read "A Place of Yes." Bethenny herself talks about how she couldn't have done it without Jason.

For example, when she did "Skating with the Stars," he was doing all the child care. He schlepped the baby from NY to LA weekly so that Bethenny could do that show and still see her baby. Now, when she was on that show, she was on prime time network TV, reaching a new, non-Bravo audience and raising visibility for Skinnygirl. The brand grew bigger.

Saying Jason--the good, stable parent--is a moocher is like saying all SAH spouses are moochers.

He was doing all the childcare? That makes him father of the year?

No, it makes him worthy of some of her money.

SOME. not a lot. her empire was well underway when they got married. i just can't believe she didn't sign an iron-clad prenup.

She didn't sign a pre-nup because at that point her brand was NOT "well underway." She basically had the drink and a couple books about being skinny. She did not sell Skinnygirl to Jim Beam until she was married to Jason and at the time she gave him a lot of credit for helping her with that.

There was even a scene in the show when HE got the call about the sale and he was the one to tell her what the big number was.

Yep. Unfortunately for Bethenny she has a video record showing Jason's support and her vocally praising him and thanking her for helping make it happen. She can pretend now that it was all her but it was on TV. He did help and he was there before she got big and HELPED her get big. She could be decent and just give him what that deserves but she is of course going to fight it to the bitter end because nothing is more important to her in the world than her precious brand.

I used to love Bethany but I cant stand this new version of her. She was always a straight shooter but didn't have the mean edge she does now. It seems like she is trying too hard to live up to her reputation of "telling it like it is". She thinks her word is gold and she bullies everyone into a corner. I've noticed that the women all have fun until she enters the room, at which point they start walking on eggshells around her and trying to please her so she doesn't turn on them. Carole was always nice and now is mirroring Bethany's behavior. Dorinda can spin it whichever way she wants, but she didn't invite Sonja because she wanted to please Bethany, the tyrant. I think combination of money and divorce has turned her into this know it all, always right, miserable person.

I actually think Bethenny is under contract to appear at all these functions and Dorinda honestly wanted to spare Sonja (and herself and the rest of the guests) from more wrath. Bethenny's got two modes right now: weeping misery or ferocious tiger. Luann was easy prey for the tiger.

I read that she couldn't get even one friend or family member to show up and testify on behalf of her custody petition.

It's hard to watch. I saw the last episode and it wasn't fun or funny. It was just ugly and sort of this mess you kind of don't want to see. I also don't like B this season. Her opinions are not truths. And it's just so, so unfun. I mean, even the crazy Ray, throwing out Romona mess was entertaining to watch. This isn't.

I wouldn't call Luann "easy prey." She can hold her own better than any of the rest of them.

She's shown vulnerability in her neediness to be on the scene and claim friendship with Bethenny. But I meant easy prey in the sense that Bethenny could gnaw on her for a good long time the way she did. Even when she went over the top and stopped making sense, she kept at it. She clearly needed some emotional outlet but didn't want it to be the crying kind, so she went off

I think this was said by the way Luann kept going on about being called a slut while Jules was so worried/sad about her dad was just really gross.

I'd bet the farm that was editing.

Ugh. Bethenny is horrible. A little of her goes a long way.

Bethenny may make me quit RHONY like Theresa made me quit New Jersey. I cannot stand to watch her and what a bully she is. Did anyone else think Bethenny looked like Michael Jackson in that black and silver outfit she had on at the end of the show?

No Luann admitted in her blog it was terrible of her but she was very upset

Who watched Wednesday night, June 8th? I can't believe how much Ramona and Luann kept pushing Sonja to go talk to Bethanny - over and over and over. She'd made the decision (IMO, a good one) to not speak to Bethanny. The pressure they were putting on Sonja to do this though, holy crap.

I wish Sonja could have really HEARD everyone, when they were saying "It's best you weren't at Dorinda's overnight." I know the feeling of being left out and wishing to be included, but that sleepover was awful and Sonja didn't need that in her life.

Yes, I realize I'm saying "stay strong - don't listen to your friends" and "listen to your friends - they know what they're talking about" all in the same post.

I think they were solely pushing Sonja to talk to Bethanny because they wanted some sort of drama for the party. Without the incident happening, there was nothing really exciting happening at that party.
