What is your deepest family secret?

I was raped twice -- the first time was by my 8th grade English teacher; the second time was by my SIL. Based on who I am today, I believe I am permanently damaged.

So sorry about this PP. Is your SIL still in the family? How in the world do you interact with her after what happened?

She is, though her and my brother are now divorced, I am very close to my nephews whom I took care of when I was a teen (which is when it happened).

How horrible! Did you report your English teacher? Tell anyone about your SIL? Wow, I'm sorry.

Never told anyone about either one until it came out during marriage counseling with my wife a few years ago -- I'm 42 now. The teacher has retired. I was too afraid tell anyone -- thought it would be devasting on my family in small, southern town.

I could be wrong but isn't the statute of limitarions different in child molestation cases? I am so sorry and I know how difficult it is to ge over one rape and I can't imagine two.

Does SIL = Sister in law or Son in Law? If the former, how does a sister in law commit rape?

Statutory rape of a minor?

My mother was an abusive alcoholic who moonlighted as a prostitute when times got tough. She would have the men right in our house after my brother and I went to bed. We lived in a very tightknit, lower middle class suburb of Buffalo, NY where everyone knew everyone, and of course my mother's transgressions were no secret to the neighbors. My brother and I were taunted constantly. Thank God we moved away from that neighborhood after a few years. I've never shared that particular tidbit, but I'm tempted sometimes because one of my mother's "clients" was David Hasselhoff, who happened to be in Buffalo doing a play at the Studio Arena Theater. I am so amused by that and woud love to share it, but then I'd have to admit that my mother was a shameless whore.

Umm, men can most certainly be raped, even by women.

I think the person who posted this secret is a woman.

After his brother died, my maternal grandfather started having an affair with his widowed sister-in-law. When my mother was a teenager, she caught her father and aunt together, but never told anyone. My grandfather and grandmother divorced, and he married his sister-in-law. Sick shit.

Also, my maternal grandmother always believed her mother was not her bio-mother. She was certain that her father impregnated another woman, but the "other" woman gave the infant (my grandmother) to the father and his wife. My grandmother pursued the truth for many years, before she died. She found some compelling evidence, but no family members would ever confirm her story and told her to "leave the past in the past." I always felt sorry for her, because she really wanted to hear the truth. Her mother who raised her was cold, abusive and basically treated her like Cinderella, compared to her other four younger daughters.

Do you know why she didn't question whether her father was her bio dad?
