I think the sheriffs office is updating locally and then national media is picking that up. Tucson doesn’t have that many famous people plus this is such a bizarre crime that of course local people are following closely. When I looked at the local newspaper online yesterday, 3 of the top 4 stories had to do with the u of a sports teams so this is pretty big news especially in a city full of old ladies. Looking at today’s front page, 2 stories about Nancy, 2 stories about local music productions, 1 story about a UofA team, and 2 stories about things the governor is doing. |
| Mexico is only 60 miles away. Sadly typically those abducted are put in trunks for the ride. |
True, but this was Arizona |
| Whenever there is blood at the scene, the person is dead. I feel terrible for her family. |
It is always a possibility, but those border crossings into Mexico are (to my knowledge) staffed 24/7. In terms of proximity, Nogales would be the most likely crossing but Lukeville could be another possibility. Sometimes the Mexican authorities check trunks at entry, other times not. And before you even get to the Mexican border, odds are strong that you’d need to pass through a US internal border checkpoint. There are internal border checkpoints between Tucson & Nogales, and between Tucson & Lukeville. These checkpoints also use modern tech like thermal imaging. However, the hours at these checkpoints do vary. It could certainly be done but not without at least some risk of being caught. I don’t get the sense this would’ve been any sort of cartel related thing (more likely to be just a creep/relative amateur). |
While I don't think it was a cartel kidnapping, Tucson is reasonably close to the border. The only thing I can think it is someone who looked for someone famous to kidnap to "get their message out." Kidnap a person who could be gotten relatively easily and whose parent has a national platform. But I'm guessing. |
light amount of blood, which could be a bloody nose. I don't see why the motive would be murder. 2am elderly abductions are unheard of |
We might never know why she was taken or the motive if her body is found. Many disappearances are unsolved. The fact that homicide investigators are involved would indicate that there is evidence. |
| I don't get what the motive is here if she was kidnapped. |
Savannah Guthrie's net worth is said to be 40 million dollars. |
| Ransom. |
|
Kinapping / ransom doesn't really make sense for someone who has a medical condition that can be fatal without medication daily. It has been 3 days. Seems by now she was either killed by whomever took her or by her medical condition. They aren't going to pay a ransom for a dead body.
Given she has a pacemaker, it is likely cardiac drugs. If so that isn't certain death within a short time but her health could quickly deteriorate. If this was ransome related, she was a poor choice of victims. |
|
Many on other sites are theorizing this was a sicko/SA who took the body away out of shame- so there wouldn’t be evidence available to “prove” this.
I would really really hope this is not true but sadly nothing surprises me anymore. |
+1. They need the FBI involved, or at least the FBI the way it used to be. |
Distraction from the real news. |
