Exactly. The community must band together and demand her resignation. Every member of the board enabled this disaster. |
+1. There was no threat. I seems this plan was concocted many months ago. Certain people she likes may have been promised cushy jobs. |
I support the need for her security guard. But the children need safety and security too, which FCPS does not provide. They don’t provide safe online/internet use or safe schools and bathrooms. |
I think she may be about to do something deeply unpopular (or take the blame for something deeply unpopular) and that's why they think she needs security. Let's wait and see what it is. |
Are these salaries guaranteed for any period of time or can these guys (I assume they'll all be guys) be let go if Reid is let go? |
Whoa. The Centreville abortion thing is wild. It looks like the actual events took place before Reid was superintendent, but what’s the timeline for the cover-up and when these things started coming out?
A good person knows when the jig is up and rather than exponentially increasing costs, they quit while they’re ahead. Reid doesn’t care to read the room that a lot of Fairfax County families are really struggling financially and with job loss right now and increasing costs while providing no value to students this is a slap in their faces. As pp wrote at length, she only gives lip service to listening to the opinions of others. It is so obvious. She has her mind made up and will do what she wants to do, thinking she has the moral high ground. Such arrogance. She needs to resign, stat. It’s over. |
The head of security is former secret service and the police have already said their major threats unit has had to investigate threats against her, not sure what else people need here. Creepy to think what those threats must be to merit this .... |
I give as much consideration or increased respect for someone bearing a title of “ex secret service” as I do for “doctor” Michelle Reid. The title at least imo is just a rubber stamp to justify arbitrary decisions. |
Will Reid's good squad be armed? Like police with side arms or concealed carry? |
MAGAs have public schools in their cross hairs. And they are aggressive, irrational nut jobs. Of course she needs protection.
|
If that is the case, it's no different that what CEOs, bosses and anyone in high up positions and few if any have security. That is tax payer money and she needs to be transparent about what this threat is that is specific to her alone and not to every teacher and student. The chance of someone taking your life or harming you over an unpopular school system decision are probably a tiny fraction of a percent if that. I cannot think of any cases in the country. |
I suspect this is related to the "real" rezoning maps that are supposed to be released this month. |
I did not think the next round of boundary maps were expected until October. |
Look at the revised boundary review schedule: https://www.fcps.edu/about-fcps/maps/2024-2026-boundary-review The “final scenarios” are not even going to be developed until November, after the governor’s race and well after the September special election. Yesterday someone posted that their post about DEI and boundary review was deleted. That post has since been deleted. That is interesting. The boundary review thread was recently locked when it came out that the Dem 11th district candidate in the September special election supports using One Fairfax for every decision and every policy. That would mean DEI based boundary review. Exactly in line with that candidate’s views. If I were the Fairfax Dems (or FCPS…same thing, I realize), and I wanted to do DEI based boundary review, I would not want the 11th district candidate asked about it, or forced into making a statement that would tie FCPS hands later this year. All signs point to a DEI based boundary review post November election. FCPS may believe a Dem in Richmond gives them a free hand. Even so, I don’t think that warrants personal security for Reid. |
If she resigns or is forced out, another win for Trump. The administration wants nothing more than to force out a bold superintendent and create internal chaos in a school district in Washington’s backyard that doesn’t comply with federal demands. The messages she sends standing up for fcps values is like waving a red flag in front of a bull. I wouldnt want her job. |
