Genuinely curious....why is HC, who was in 6th place in the ISL last year, going to be better? Didn't they graduate some important players? My only guess would be a strong freshman class.

Did you mean for that to sound as bad as it did?
I thought freshman weren't allowed to play varsity usually

Depends whether they are good enough. My daughter has started since freshman year as have several of her classmates.

Some real-time reporting from the stands would be welcomed.

It didn’t go well for the locals

I don't think it was expected to go particularly well, right? There are a handful or less of local teams even capable of performing well in that environment and several of them did not attend.

most just use it for a warm-upMost people just use it as a warm-up for spring and to get some reps; it's not that big of a deal.

Went well for Archbishop Spalding! They are local enough (included in WaPo All Met teams and regularly play WCAC and ISL).

STAB who plays most of the top tier of ISL and a couple WCAC teams also played well.

Neither of those teams would be considered local by a local.

Right now, driving from my house in Bethesda would require more time to reach STAB compared to Spooky Nook, and I would not consider either destination to be local.

Is the Washington Post sports desk not local??

AS is essentially the same distance from the National Mall as GC and PVI, and closer from a time of commute perspective. Many WCAC and ISL schools have girls on their roster that live a lot closer to Annapolis or AS than the school they attend in the DC area.

But whatever your biases.

Previous posts have suggested that SSSAS has as many as 18 committed recruits on their roster. That is likely more than STAB, Potomac and SR combined. If all true, Saints should be the clear favorite this year in the ISL and in Virginia. Their '26 class is highly decorated but still no titles. I look for them to win it all this year.

SSSAS has some talent but the college commitment numbers are high because KJ is in the back pulling levers and pressing buttons for her players. Most of the commits will never step foot on a college field.

What are the schools these 18 commits are going to? Big difference between a bunch of UNC or other top school commits and a bunch of Southern Connecticut college commits.

Umm no. The girls get in on their own. They work hard to get themselves recruited. Good grades and tons of camps, showcases, emailing etc. With no help from anyone but family. Can assure you of that.

They should easily be the favorites with that list!
