Lots of excuses, and neither of the last couple of posters appear to know much about the Good Counsel and Stone Ridge head coaches. Or what a WCAC vs ISL champions match up looks like, even in pre-season.

Good Counsel social media was posting every goal, some draws, saves and CTs, even ground balls. All starters through 3rd quarter, including 1st team goalie. So…

GC is using social media as it should be used…to keep fans engaged.

Both the GC and SR coaches agreed they would pull their starters and play second/third string beginning fourth quarter. Both teams treated it like it was…a scrimmage. GC was up by 2 after the third quarter. Lost by 1 at end.

SR has a good draw girl and lots of speed on offense. GC moves the ball well. Both teams defense were solid. Both teams had some sloppiness which will be cleaned up after more practices and games. Overall, two solid teams and it will be fun to watch them play each other later this spring.

GC was rotating their starters in and out the first three quarters. They did keep their top middie in for most of the first 3 quarters, but that was the only starter they did.

its a scrimmage. SR can be the scrimmage champ.

GC parents seem a bit defensive on the event. SR played man down for at least half of 4th q. They also played their full squad. Agree it was just a scrimmage, but some seem overly defensive with excuses. Should be a great game in the regular season.

Great post. Two top 20 national teams sharpening up for an exciting season. Good stuff.

If they are also scheduled to play each other in the regular season I feel pretty confident in saying both coaches kept some things in their back pocket. Why show it off in a scrimmage?

Not sure how Stoneridge is ranked above Potomac and Saint Stephen’s, both beat them?

Im sorry.... didn't SR win the ISL from beating both....?

Scrimmage/playday results mean nothing - anything come out of the Bullis playday this past weekend - Potomac & SSSAS looked like the strong teams from last season (Bullis, NCS, Holton, HC and SMR also there) - any teams show anything to look forward to this season?

I love the contradiction in the first two phrases above. I'm with phrase two. Any reports from the weekend?

Also, games start this week. What are the interesting matchups?

Snark acknowledged. Ready to have your mind blown.... the score to a pre-season scrimmage (results) is meaningless, however, there can be takeaways such as teams showing an improved defense or strong goalie play or good play at the draw, etc... not a contradiction - an acknowledgement that the poster isn't looking to hear about scores, rather, takeaways from the various teams' play / interesting tidbits.

No snark intended, my lacrosse parent brother. I'm interested in precisely the kind of takeaways you mentioned, plus relative strength etc. One slight distinction in our views, scores are not necessarily "meaningless". If we are talking about a 2-4 goal spread, and one team substituted more liberally, or is working on a new attack or defensive structure, no real implications for the season. But if a team dominates by 10 goals+ in a game that might have been predicted to be somewhat competitive (Potomac vs PVI for instance; or PVI vs Madison a few days ago) I do believe that is relevant and meaningful to know.

All clear & same page.... now we just need someone who was there to provide any interesting insights.

PVI has new coaches and a few decent players. Not nearly good enough to challenge the top teams though. The bottom half of the WCAC is pretty weak, so they will have some wins in the end.

PVI will have a good test this week from Georgetown Visitation. Like PVI, Georgetown Visitation has a new coaching staff, some good players, but not enough to challenge the top teams in their league, though they probably have enough to beat up on the bottom half. Seems like a good matchup.
