What SHOULD Dems do?

Anonymous
Like the temper tantrum this country has thrown every 2 years for almost 20 years?

The American electorate is schizophrenic

They never give anyone enough time. If things aren’t fixed immediately if not sooner, they swing the other way.

It’s freaking ridiculous and exactly why nothing ever gets fixed.

I'm afraid you are correct. Our brand is coated with a stink that can't be removed with any known solvent.

Or maybe the voters could try not being stupid racists.

What you’re not getting is that this is who these Americans are. This is what they want. They want radical change, because they think they’re being left behind. They voted for a dictator to punish those uppity brown people and women and foreigners. Now they have one, and they’re ecstatic. Nothing the Democrats could possibly say or do can penetrate a bubble built on fear and hatred. Facts don’t matter. Logic doesn’t matter. Empathy doesn’t matter. Christian values don’t matter. For the past few decades, they’ve been carefully taught to hate anyone with a D attached to their name.

You’re inside that same bubble too, gloating over imaginary caricatures of preening out of touch Democrats. Nothing the Democrats do would make them palatable to you unless they move further to the right. Why on earth would they do that? Then they wouldn’t be Democrats any longer. They’d be moderate Republicans, of the sort that voters keep rejecting in favor of ever more extreme MAGA candidates.

The center isn’t coming back. This country is more polarized than it’s ever been. We can’t even agree on a common set of facts or beliefs anymore.

This isn’t a Democrat problem. It’s a voter problem. They are the ones responsible for waking up and realizing the GOP’s smash and destroy mission isn’t making their lives better, just as a drug addict is responsible for getting clean. Until they hit rock bottom, everything their friends and family say will get perceived as moralistic nagging. That seems to be your main peeve with Democrats, that they should get off their moral high horse, stop nagging, and… what, start enabling?

You sound like a spoiled child asserting nothing is ever your fault, ever, and you are always, always right.

The voters are leaving you behind, as one should treat spoiled brats.

PP response was mature and thoughtful.

Your response: Wah! Spoiled brat! Childish!

Not exactly a mic drop there, pal.

It wasn’t thoughtful. It was a temper tantrum.

You’re being ridiculous.

If you can’t address the points, that’s fine, but don’t pretend like it was some out of control outburst.

Oh come on. Of course it was a temper tantrum. That PP (you?) just insulted voters for paragraphs because those voters don’t automatically agree that every single political position you hold is the absolute morally correct one simply because you, the better person, hold it.

There were no substantive points to which to respond. It was as erudite as an entitled tween flinging insults at a parent who has finally had the guts to tell her “no.”

I realize that one of the major problems with Democrats now is that they have no conception of how to deal with disagreement, but come on. I’m not wasting my time responding to a rant with the intellectual depth of a puddle.

I mean, yeah, I guess you should. But it’s a little late, now that you managed to LOSE THE WORKING CLASS!

Lol. Dems are funny.

We've already had 39k layoffs in tech this year (source TrueUp). Now we are facing more from IBM and others.

But we need 85k more H-1B visas?

We need more OPT STEM visas for foreign STEM grads?

Employers needs to sponsor more Green Cards?

Based on what data? NONE!!!!!!! The data tells us we should be doing the opposite.

American Tech Workers have been replaced. 11 Million American STEM grads are not working in STEM.

When will Democrats support US workers first?

Ask Republicans. They’re in power. Are they supporting US workers? Are they supporting US citizens? Are they supporting people’s rights and the countries laws?

If so, what’s the problem.

True. I am an Asian American voter and have never voted for any Republicans since my first vote as a college student for Carter in 1980 but switched to being an independent and have voted only for Republicans since 2016 and will never vote for any Democrats due to discrimination promoted by Dems with programs such as DEI and affirmative action.

I have noticed many other Asian families shocked by government (our hard earned money) paying for sex change operations for convicted criminals and illegal aliens and, allowiowing sex change operations for minors without the consent or even knowledge of parents.

You’re marinating your brain in right wing fake news.

Here’s who Dems have on their side:

95% of news outlets

95% of college professors

95% of show business celebrities

80% of pro athletes

But sure, anybody who opposes the Dems is obviously brainwashed by the trickle of rightwing perspectives they hear. It couldn’t possibly be that Democrats’ policies are insane & their leaders are weak.

So close, and yet still so far away from getting it.

Yes, the working classes do so much better in red states where they’re sicker, poorer, less well educated, and constantly lied to.

Exactly. Those voters were always dumb, but at least they voted Democrat. Now they vote Republican. They’ve clearly gotten stupider.

Such a winning message from Democrats. Guaranteed to sway voters.

And what is infuriating is that the Democrats are the ones who are going to make this happen.

You need votes from people you despise. You are incapable of empathizing with them. Good luck with that!

The problem isn’t that Dems don’t empathize. It’s that they as a party are not willing to capitulate to going backwards, especially to an era where so many were oppressed and marginalized for the benefit of a few. Which is exactly Why they see Trump and company as a problem. The Dems understand progress, compromise, and reflection. As others have said, if the voters want Trump and his brand of politics and government then they’re in luck. If not, then they need to really begin to reflect on what it is they do want.
