The problem isn’t that Dems don’t empathize. It’s that they as a party are not willing to capitulate to going backwards, especially to an era where so many were oppressed and marginalized for the benefit of a few. Which is exactly Why they see Trump and company as a problem. The Dems understand progress, compromise, and reflection. As others have said, if the voters want Trump and his brand of politics and government then they’re in luck. If not, then they need to really begin to reflect on what it is they do want.

Nope. For real, it is Russia. Years ago Putin realized that the way to tear America apart is from within.

The internet and lack of regulation over the news we see has been our downfall. By regulation, I mean that news doesn’t have to be truthful or reflect both sides.

We have allowed our lizard brains to control news. Content is driven and decided through clicks rather than solid information. We can’t keep up because tech was designed to make us click and get our attention, not for long term thinking.

Dems will continue to lose, i agree, but it is mostly because Republicans are much more willing to allow Putin into our devices .

4) LGBTQIA+ education in elementary schools. (I agree, it’s a good thing. It teaches kids tolerance. Rs make too big a deal of it. But remember, they are the customers. If we’re the “force unpopular things down your throat Party,” they won’t vote for us. We went too far (for THEIR liking), and for that, we should apologize

5) Inflation. Yes it was Covid, the Fed, and Trump’s fault too. But our team printed and borrowed and spent too much money.

I think a lot of this is related to the general mismanagement of state and local governments in red states. The economies are generally crap there with poor schooling options, healthcare and few jobs.

They keep voting for these bad ideas and just sink further and further into anger and resentment. Their local leaders say blame the feds, that they are being stolen from, rigging the system so they can’t win, and they just buy into it.

Dems gave up competing in those areas and now the narrative is pretty firmly set.

Two thoughts on this Dems need to apologize BS:

(1) They have far less to apologize for than the GOP. The GOP, at least as far back as Newt M-Fer Gingrich has destroyed the functionality of Congress. Absolutely torpedoed it with their "other side is the enemy" rhetoric and mentality. Instead of "the other side of the aisle are people with whom we disagree about some things and need to find ways to compromise with" they say the other side is the ENEMY. IT IS THE GOP that hammered home that compromise is weakness and all the us vs. them mentality. This has meant so little forward progress on real issues that voters actual give two sh*ts about. They would rather lie and divide that actually solve problems.
AND The GOP brought us Trump. He is dismantling our democracy. He is alienating our allies. He is siding with dictators. He is tanking our economy. He tried to undermine the previous election. He is by far the worst human being we have ever given this much power to. NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY F-IN NOTHING Dems have done compares with the train wreck that is Trump and his Project 2025 RWNJ psychopaths. And there the GOP Congresspeople sit like brainless, spineless NPCs sitting on their hands while he does it all. Barely a peep.

(2) If the Dems apologize, the GOP will take it, twist it, add their own brand of lies and exaggerations and use it against the Dems. Anything to twist the knife. See paragraph 1.

The only way forward is to hammer relentlessly at the incompetence of the current administration, relentlessly bring to light how these policies hurt Americans, and relentless talk of actual plans to make actual progress on the economy and issues that voters really care about. All eyes forward.

This. But Dems can’t apologize. They think too highly of themselves. There’s no way America’s moral and intellectual superiors are going to grovel for votes from “stupid” people in flyover states.

Two thoughts on this Dems need to apologize BS:

(1) They have far less to apologize for than the GOP. The GOP, at least as far back as Newt Gingrich has destroyed the functionality of Congress. Absolutely torpedoed it with their "other side is the enemy" rhetoric and mentality. Instead of "the other side of the aisle are people with whom we disagree about some things and need to find ways to compromise with" they say the other side is the ENEMY. IT IS THE GOP that hammered home that compromise is weakness and all the us vs. them mentality. This has meant so little forward progress on real issues that voters actual give two figs about. They would rather lie and divide that actually solve problems.
AND The GOP brought us Trump. He is dismantling our democracy. He is alienating our allies. He is siding with dictators. He is tanking our economy. He tried to undermine the previous election. He is by far the worst human being we have ever given this much power to. NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING Dems have done compares with the train wreck that is Trump and his Project 2025 RWNJ psychopaths. And there the GOP Congresspeople sit like brainless, spineless NPCs sitting on their hands while he does it all. Barely a peep.

(2) If the Dems apologize, the GOP will take it, twist it, add their own brand of lies and exaggerations and use it against the Dems. Anything to twist the knife. See paragraph 1.

The only way forward is to hammer relentlessly at the incompetence of the current administration, relentlessly bring to light how these policies hurt Americans, and relentless talk of actual plans to make actual progress on the economy and issues that voters really care about. All eyes forward.
