I’ve been trying to pinpoint why the show seems so awkward and I think PP gets at it somewhat. I remember when my kids were younger and following a formula to write a paper. For example, in the opening paragraph, state the thesis, give examples and conclude when thesis and some extra insight. Her show has that artificial construction feel, it’s about showing ways to bring joy and elevate, blah, blah, blah. Then she shows some examples- cut your sandwiches into shapes! Then has to come back to how that brings joy! Isn’t that amazing! The paraphrased quote from PP is a great example. “Thats where the joy comes in”?!?! So weird. |
The hatred for this woman is effing insane. I saw someone laugh at her for wearing Princess Diana's gold Cartier watch because they claim wearing your dead MIL's jewelry is "cringe" and "try-hard." Wonder if they think it's weird Kate wears Diana's engagement ring. |
Cool story. |
And yet you responded. |
Variety panned it. |
It’s cringey. I just fell asleep watching it. It’s all about her. This series won’t survive and I’m not buying anything she’s promoting. |
100% this. I bet that Netflix and everyone else that invested in this couple was hoping for more Harry content because he is by far the more interesting of the two, but they got stuck with Meg trying to control the narrative and make things about her. |
I haven't watched the show, just clips and reels on IG and whatnot...
Was really rooting for Meghan in the beginning as well, which tanked during Mexit and I lost all respect during the Oprah interview...that was truly shocking. I do think she is intelligent, driven, and pretty but that is all completely killed with her attention-seeking, very calculated behavior (no denying she is a micromanager- not for anyone's success but her OWN), and then plays dumb. I don't think it matters how strong your positive qualities are- you can be the smartest, most beautiful, ambitious, etc. person, but that level of narcissism is truly off the chain and really unattractive. I do think, some of her image could have been partially redeemed if she had taken an extended break from the public eye (like, many, many years). Take Camilla, or Monica Lewinsky, for example. You may not agree with my opinion or what they did, but their overall public acceptance is much stronger now. |
She really lives in La-la Land. |
Agree. It would have been much more natural and had the same impact of making people aware of her name if they had just done a take where Mindy was calling her Megan Sussex. |
She does have really pretty handwriting. I will give her that. |
Agree. Or, if they had continued the conversation! If one of my friends had married a prince, I absolutely would want to know what to call her. If I had been Mindy and my friend said "you know my name is Sussex now", I'd follow up with "ok cool! So what would you like me to call you? Do I introduce you as Megan Sussex? Do you want people to call you Meghan, Duchess of Sussex?" It just seems oddly contrived to end it at "You know I'm Sussex now" as if we know what tf that's supposed to mean vis a vis her name. |
I know. Why does DCUM hate her so much? What has she done to you all? I think I know why… |
One of the reviews mentions something similar. They used the bee scene where she says something like "do things that scare you." Like she's trying to use the show to give what she thinks are profound revelations. |
I think they have a beautiful life. Sort of permanent vacation. Mix it with work when they want to. Imagine them cooking and playing outside all day. |
