Misinformation--this is not true. The feces in the bed, well before the crime, were thought to be JB's who had a history of toileting problems (including having wet the bed the night of the crime). The candy box wasn't tested, might well have been melted chocolate. This is how untrue rumors spread. We don't even know if Burke hit JB with a golf club on purpose or by accident. I was hit in the face with a field hockey stick as a child. It was an accident. According to the housekeeper, Burke smeared feces on the wall once when younger. Not a consistent thing by any means and as pointed out on this thread, associated with autism and sensory differences. https://www.autismparentingmagazine.com/autism-fecal-smearing/ Maybe Burke did it, maybe he didn't. But please don't spread unsubstantiated rumors to back up your theories. |
| Whenever killed her, the family definitely covered it up. The blanket from the dryer?? |
I agree the ransom note, blanket, and staging after the fact (ineffective hand ties) suggest family coverup. But we'll never know exactly what happened and who was responsible for the actual killing. Some accident or other involving Burke, maybe, but not enough concrete evidence to be sure. |
The wall-smearing incident happened four years earlier. No evidence at all that Burke had ongoing issues in this area. JB had issues with incontinence, bot urinary and fecal. |
No, the feces were noted by investigators. There was a pair of pajama pants too large for jonbenet on the bedroom of her floor containing fecal matter, as well as feces smeared on a box of chocolates. It was noted by investigators in their sweep of the house but they did not understand its possible significance at the time. It’s not misinformation. A housekeeper also reported feces in jonbenets bed in the past in addition to Burke smearing feces on the wall when he was younger during his mother’s cancer treatment. |
| I guess no lie detectors were given |
Patsy said the pants in the bathroom were Jonbenet's. They were taken for testing. The feces in the bed were hers, as far as anyone knows. The chocolate box was not taken for testing, so no-one knows if it was actually feces or melted chocolate. From Holly Smith: "One poignant find that she does recall was a red satin box with what looked like JonBenet's secret stash of candy. She found something else in the room, however, which raised an immediate red flag. Smith says most of the panties in JonBenet's dresser drawers had been soiled with fecal material." As stated, there was one Burke feces-smearing incident four years earlier. Not exactly a smoking gun since JB clearly had issues, Patsy claimed with poor wiping, around the time of her death. |
Sounds like JB was severely constipated. |
Yeah, that would be my guess. Apparently she had a lot of pediatrician visits, for various things. That doesn't suggest a mother who doesn't love her child. |
I can see a kid like this, at this age, realizing her underpants were soiled and stuffing them in the drawer to hide the evidence and getting a new pair. This seems like a normal situation for this problem. It doesn’t point to a brother doing this maliciously to a sister. A 6 yr old isn’t exactly going to do a load of laundry to hide the evidence. |

There were several things going on.
CSIs noted pajama pants too big for jonbenet containing fecal matter on the floor of her bedroom. They were thought, by the CSIs and investigative team, to belong to Burke. Pasty was asked about a pair of jonbenets pants found in jonbenets bathroom containing fecal matter, which she attributed to poor wiping skills. CSIs also noted feces found smeared on a box of chocolates. A current housekeeper reported previously finding a pile of feces in jonbenets bed and it was not clear who had deposited the material. A former housekeeper reported that Burke had smeared feces on the walls three years prior when he was six years old and patsy was undergoing chemotherapy. She had been instructed by patsys mother, who was living with them, to clean it up. So it’s possible that jonbenet had toilet training issues and Burke was showing related behavioral issues. Either way, it doesn’t really support an intruder theory - it shows preexisting disturbing behaviors. And that the parents hadn’t seen or cleaned up feces around the house. |

Ok thanks to whoever recommended The Consult podcast . They are pretty convinced it was a sadistic intruder.
The 30 keys given out to various contractors and the fact that not all doors and windows were locked shows plenty of opportunity for an intruder. |
Yet no evidence of an intruder in the house, and strong evidence of a coverup by the family. |
No evidence? Multiple people were in and of that house over those days. There’s no way they did a clean sweep and identified every finger print, hair, clothing fiber, etc. There’s no evidence because they didn’t even look. |
Of course they looked! And the evidence just wasn’t there. Everything points towards it being a family member. Everything. Except it can’t be proven which one, so, it will never be solved. |
