At your crappy little school yes it is

We just got moved off playing HS Soccer because the coach that was selected for the team is awful. Never played soccer and really never coached either. A few seconds level youth teams. How does this even happen. Getting letters helps kids get into college.

Did you ever play rec soccer. It's so bad, it's not fun.

They have a tough time hiring coaches because everyone knows HS soccer is rec soccer

HS soccer is luck of the draw so a lot of girls don't play because they're best player on a very poor team cobbled together. Plenty of girls have a lot of fun and some of the state's best play and win state championships doing so. Therefore, it's very fun for them or you know they wouldn't play. Costs parents almost nothing so the argument "you play because I've paid" is out the window. VA HS soccer has a lot of talented club players and you'll see it in the playoffs.

This just goes to show that you don't understand why club soccer is higher level than anything HS can put together.

When you're watching two teams play and you can see certain players go on breakaways multiple times and score it's the hallmark of B team soccer. It might look exciting from a spectator perspective but it's not good soccer.

Two really good teams with really good players in all positions will go back and forth over and over trying different team tactics. This is usually what high level soccer looks like. It's also why when top teams play each other generally the scores are low and close.

I do know, DD is heading to ACC school next summer. I'm stating that HS is just fun, but has good games... i.e. in playoffs predominantly.

It's been this way (at least in DMV area) for at least 10 years. If you want a great coach- with at least a "b" license and training (not the math teacher) and skilled players - you must play club. HS any sport is political and biased too.

Ironically in our district the most qualified coaching option (ex- player and current assistant coach at collegiate level) is a math teacher. But not coaching the HS team.

It varies. Each school is different. At some privates it is ok and at some it is not. At publics it can be ok but the injuries happen none the less. On the girls side at ECNL level in think it is like 60-40 to play. Still not sure it is worth the injury risk though.

You are correct when you see a break away at the professional level just remember it’s the hallmark of a B level team. The MLS Next teams would never allow that to happen. 😂😂

Def not worth the injury risk but they are having a blast and may have a banner at the school in perpetuity which does feel better than an overpriced hoodie you have to admit

Private School parents don't pay $$$ so a club coach will only roster club players on the HS soccer team. Club coaches and parents in many sports butt heads at private schools.
