Did you ever play rec soccer. It's so bad, it's not fun.

Seems like a you problem. Most people have fun

Does rec soccer have as many injuries as HS soccer?

Dmv area hs soccer is a joke. Compared to Bmore it’s a complete joke. From the players’ mindsets, to the quality of the leagues. It’s all a big joke yet the players and parents and alumni all walk around pounding their chests when things are going well like it’s the greatest, while most of the higher quality players aren’t even supposed to be playing HS but somehow majestically these kids end up playing in the playoffs. It’s a complete and utter joke and it completely brings down the quality of club league play. If I’m a senior and I can dribble through the entire team most games because it’s a bunch of kids 1,2,3 years younger than me, how is that helping me develop? All while these programs are posting IG posts like it’s some professional program.

Did I mention it’s one big huge joke?

Someone is angry 🤣

I went to Churchill vs Whitman the other day and literally every player was a senior for both teams so you are wrong.

I don’t know what’s going in Baltimore so I won’t comment on that.

Zero chance any Maryland school beats the champions of VA in every class. Zero

OMG. 100%%%%%% Same 1 or 2 schools dominate every year and just blow through because there is no competition---schools are apples and oranges. For the amount of time spent --which could be on academics or actually getting better by making all 4 club practices a week---it's just not worth it. If you are on a top MLSnext team--you really don't have time for both and it's idiotic to lose 4 Fall seasons of training at the highest level to play HS that is only making you worst.

Nobody on my kids' club teams played HS---no special waivers or any of that BS. They had to be at practice 4 nights a week and be ready for 2 games almost every weekend. If you were missing for HS, you would not see the field and would be riding pine on game day (or not even taken along/rostered).

It's really sad to think that there are parents who teach their kids that unless they are KILLING IT, DOMINATING, AGGRESSIVE, they are failing or it isn't worth doing. That might -- might -- make for a pointier college application, but it certainly won't make for a happy, well-adjusted adult.

It's not just that.

The players that kill in HS are playing down and usually 12-18 months older then their competition.

There's a reason everyone says that HS soccer is a joke.

Listen- this is a dumb thread. No serious (elite club level) is playing HS soccer to develop or for the competition. They are playing for the fun of it, to play with friends, to ride the bus to away games, to get cheered on by classmates. And there is lliterally nothing wrong with that.

And hey- if they are good, they may even earn Gatorade player of the year (for which you MUST play HS not club-- and which can help with college). But that is not why they play. They play because its a differnet experience entirely than club.

So much vitrol and hate. Why don't we just cancel all HS sports because it's not going to lead to further development and college recruitment. Dumb. Let these kids live a little and have fun playing with friends for a few months of the year.

And, yes, there are teams in the DMV whose play is pretty high level. Go watch Gonzaga, St. Albans or Episcopal...big chunk of those players are top club players at mls or ecnl....

Who cares. They wouldn’t be able to field teams if it wasn’t fun or it was terrible in the way you are suggesting. Lots of MLS kids play HS but none I know play rec anything. As a general rule of thumb kids don't waste time on stuff that sucks unless their parents make them. So guess they like playing for their HS.
