It's been this way (at least in DMV area) for at least 10 years. If you want a great coach- with at least a "b" license and training (not the math teacher) and skilled players - you must play club. HS any sport is political and biased too.

Teh most talented kids do not play HS - they dont want to get hurt by some field hockey kid from another team trying outside back for the first time.

This is absolutely not true. I would bet 90+% of ECNL boys play and 75% of MLS Next kids. Some DC United players risk repercussions and play against their coaches instructions. They all LOVE playing HS.

On girls side probably not worth it. Is this really a debate this point? Some kids play, some don't nobody talks about it usually unless they are actively trolling

It’s the same as travel which is rec soccer. Who cares? Once kids leave high school most will never play an organized sport again.

There's something special about having a chance to play sports with your classmates and school friends. The quality of HS soccer may be rec-tier but the experience is unique.

The only sport kids get recruited from their high school team is football because there isn't club football.

Tennis you play your whole life golf and swimming make sense travel school and lax lol no

What are you looking at?

I saw last night a game between Whitman and Churchill where every single player out there was playing high club soccer. MLS Next, ECNL, E64, EDP regular.

They all moved the ball around, they all had technical skills.

The entire rosters in both teams were almost all seniors and juniors.
