You get to use the pool, you just don’t get an automatic placement on RMSC Rockville’s team. |
I'm not touching that pool this year. I've already had to have antibiotics for infections from it. |
Sure, piddle and what not. That is not a basis for saying that you cannot use the pool. The issue of piddle, etc. isn’t unique to that facility, it comes with using public pools in general. |
Is it too crowded or are taxes being used for something that nobody can use? You claim both but those two are in conflict. |
No, they aren't. A High proportion of non-residents are using it. This year a major aquatic center nearby closed; it will be even more crowded. There are several other threads that have established this. As KSAC parents search vainly for a facility, and have crowded out opportunities for other kids to use the classes or teams. It's in the lede. You can't close a major aquatics facility near by and say "same great" service. Some kids will get locked out of classes, some people will forgo pool time, kids will get left off the teams. This has already started as RMSC tried to move kids over. |
You sound charming. I feel sorry for your neighbors. |
Is there one or two pools that the OP is talking about? I'm confused. I thought that RMSC was at the Rockville pool and that was the pool that the OP was talking about not being able to get access to for swim team but it seems like OP doesn't find it satisfactory for recreational purposes. |
The one that illegally sublets and sleeps in the hammock? You can have him. He just needs two trees, he'll be your friend forever. I figure I pay much more than six dollars for RSFC per year in taxes. That was a gross analysis assuming each person pays the same taxes including kids etc. |
There are four pools at RSFC. There are two indoor pools, neither of which is very big a 25 yard pool with six lanes and a 25 meter pool. During the winter, usually only 25 meter is available for the public to use, and only during limited hours. This one is gross as all the kids and kid swim lesson are in it especially during cold flu season. It is shallow no diving etc. Very crowded. The other pool is used almost exclusively for RMSC during the winter, it is nicer and can accommodate some diving. Rays use(d) it in the summer. Next year there will be another outdoor pool which will resemble the standard shallow lap pools all the swim league teams use. The rays will use this one. Neither of these are like that big KSAC long course pool. The outdoor lap pool is heated up to November but doesn't open until May. It is also used quite heavily by RMSC. So yeah, there is a pool that is basically unavailable and one that is somewhat available but crowded. |
Rockville Swim Center is not a country club. It’s open to the public. Regardless of where you live. They give discounts to Rockville tax payers, but it isn’t for their exclusive use. It’s to service the greater Rockville community. The KSAC is also in Rockville, but not part of Rockville city so I do agree Rockville residents who live near KSAC might look at Rockville this year. |
Ok, so what do you think it is - $25 per year? You never addressed these outstanding questions above: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/240/1222247.page#28187288 |
The bold above is not true. The Rays will *not* use the renovated outdoor "fun" pool next year. |
Weird maybe that was just a rumor. I definitely didn't see it in writing, but it would have made sense, since the indoor yard pool doesn't match the league schedule of outdoor meter pools. |
WHAT REACTION ARE YOU LOOKING FOR? |
Given how rich you are you can afford private lessons and a private team till your kid can get into RMSC. Simple. |
