Is MoCo taking advantage of Rockville's pool

Rockville residents are crazy, crazy to pay for a pool we don't even get to use.

You get to use the pool, you just don’t get an automatic placement on RMSC Rockville’s team.

I'm not touching that pool this year. I've already had to have antibiotics for infections from it.

Is there one or two pools that the OP is talking about? I'm confused. I thought that RMSC was at the Rockville pool and that was the pool that the OP was talking about not being able to get access to for swim team but it seems like OP doesn't find it satisfactory for recreational purposes.

There are four pools at RSFC. There are two indoor pools, neither of which is very big a 25 yard pool with six lanes and a 25 meter pool. During the winter, usually only 25 meter is available for the public to use, and only during limited hours. This one is gross as all the kids and kid swim lesson are in it especially during cold flu season. It is shallow no diving etc. Very crowded. The other pool is used almost exclusively for RMSC during the winter, it is nicer and can accommodate some diving. Rays use(d) it in the summer. Next year there will be another outdoor pool which will resemble the standard shallow lap pools all the swim league teams use. The rays will use this one. Neither of these are like that big KSAC long course pool.

The outdoor lap pool is heated up to November but doesn't open until May. It is also used quite heavily by RMSC.

So yeah, there is a pool that is basically unavailable and one that is somewhat available but crowded.

The bold above is not true. The Rays will *not* use the renovated outdoor "fun" pool next year.

+100 points for using Rays and Fun in a sentence. Well done.

I mean it sounds like the tax-supported spending on the swim center is really minimal and must be a tiny fraction of any given resident's city taxes but maybe I am wrong.

We don't like the service though. The teams are dominated by non-resident elite freeloaders and the pools are like swimming in snot during the winter.

If MOCO can shut down KSAC why can't we shutdown RSFC? Mary Antoinette: "Let them swim at Olney".

In general, we need more pools in Montgomery County. County high school swim teams practice at 5:30 am because of pool space shortages. The county's adult swim team has practices at 8:30 pm for the same reason. Instead of fighting for space, why not advocate for more? In a county that's home to so many swimming Olympians, more pools, lanes, and swimming opportunities at all levels (from beginner-level children and adults to elite level children and adults) would be a worthy investment, and it would have public health benefits too. We could also use our space more wisely by grouping swimmers of compatible speeds together and teaching/promoting basic lane etiquette.

I just don't think I'll see any of those benefits the way it's (mis)managed, Rockville could build another pool, but they would sell it out to RMSC and non-residents. We already have a pool. It's oversubscribed every lesson and team are booked to the max hundreds of kids rejected, and wait listed, but they can't fund it unless or until non-residents.

You self-contradict yourself very efficiently in that one brief paragraph. Bravo to you, sir. *tips hat*

Thank you, I can't accept all credit for that though. I was just paraphrasing the response from the City.

A) Very popular

B) Can't fund it without non-residents

Doesn't make sense does it?

Two hundred thousand people.
8 lane 50 M pool, 2 3 lane 25 yard pools
two 25 meter x 25 yard pools

Rockville facilities sixty eight thousand people.

A ~six lane 25 meter pool and a six lane 25 yard pool. *Oh and by the way we have to let all of MoCo swim there.*

Sounds to me that Richmond has less pool per pupil.

That seems proportional - not sure what your point is.

Also, their facility use and team membership are not residence restricted so that's counter to your other main point of contention.

You're not very good at this.

Except the Richmod metropolitan area has plenty of indoor pools and Moco doesn't. https://swimrichmond.org/

So NOW you argue for more pools? NOW?!

You yet again self-conflict with yourself. But, by all means, please continue to chase your tail, it is amusing.

You think the situation is funny? Oh, look the MoCo crew is here now they want to rub elbows with us after they closed their pool.

Thread has been quiet, did Rockville let OP in off the waitlist?

Someone earlier suggested it was a troll started to deflect attention off the ncap thread. Looks like that one has settled down as well.

The "situation" is neither here nor there - a complete non-issue.

What is amusing is your tail-chasing, duplicity and persistent confusion as you attempt to argue this nothing issue.

A song. For you:
