Guys, let's be clear: JD Vance didn't have sex with his couch!

More to the point, is JD into mid-modern, or does he like it freaky?

It was probably whatever was in his mother's basement. If he did it, I mean.

The former “good” couch, you mean.

I have removed the excerpt because it is certainly not real. I don' have a copy of the book on hand (strange because I am pretty sure I both an ebook version) but there are several indications beyond the lewd content that it is fake.

I do have a copy and checked and it is not there, at least not on the pages cited. I also think it is something I would remember reading, which I don't.

The exchange with his grandma (is that one real? I have never read the book and don’t have any interest in doing so) is plenty bad enough. The “do you like to ___ (r)ick” passage is the one I’m talking about.

Yes, that is real but in context is tolerant of gay people. In fact, J. D. goes to some length to show tolerance for gay people throughout the book.

A shame that one of the most evil, self-loathing gay men on the planet, is the reason we all have to put up w/ this psycho now.

Imagine if Peter Thiel put effort into improving the world.

To be fair, Thiel is horrified by Vance and has totally disowned him and deeply regrets funding him. That's not to defend Thiel, but to say that's HOW BAD Vance is. Peter Thiel literally had a panic attack when asked about Vance being VP. He's that scary of a pick!

Was JD’s couch old enough to consent?

Regional flavor. One has to know that Becker, MN is primarily famous for “Becker Furniture World,” one of those places that has acres and acres of couches. I wonder if they dimmed the lights and put on some Barry White for JD.

My “I did not have relations with my couch” shirt is raising questions that the shirt is supposed to be answering.

Listen, when a couch starts to get soft and saggy, you just start to lose interest. How can you have a firm desire to enjoy it when it's frankly past its prime. Sure, it cradled your children, and yes, in its prime, it was a thing of beauty.

But you can't say you aren't checking out a little Wayfair on the side. Layer on that guyliner and go get what you deserve.
