A town in Belgium has been doing that for over 700 years. The town is anchored by a psychiatric hospital where patients receive medication, therapies, and daily activities. Some portion of the patients live as boarders in the homes of town residents. FFS. Most of the homeless are home-grown. The ones who cross the border work hard, pay for the roof over their heads and the food on their tables. |
There are far more foreign-born homeless here than you might expect. They become homeless at a roughly similar rate to native born, but without local connections they often congregate in cities like DC. |
