Why is DC somehow obligated to take care of people who became destitute elsewhere but ended up in DC? |
Because that’s where they live now. Are you going to ask them all where they lived before and send them back to WV or CA or wherever they are all from? If this country were in better shape all around like in education, health care etc. we would have way fewer homeless people. What don’t we fix the cause rather than put a bandaid on it after it’s too late. |

VA should build townships in LCOL that look and function like military bases for retired or ex-army folks that are getting a pension. |
That's not an answer, because it places all the burden on DC and does nothing for the places where they came from. |
DC should find out where they came from and sue those locales for reimbursement on any costs being incurred to DC as a result of those communities not taking care of their own. I'd consider that fair. |
How do you know that? Source? |
Interesting. Think about how Texas feels. |
That's different. |
DC’s homeless issues pale in comparison to many other cities across the country. Go clutch your pearls somewhere else and stop complaining. |
From talking to homeless and people who work with them. |
Here's something for Texas to think about - Texas doesn't think they should have to take care of migrants, but somehow they think it's reasonable for the taxpayers of DC to have to pay for them and deall with them, given the taxpayers of DC don't even have a vote or representation in Congress? Truly truly bizarre or clueless that anyone would ever think that somehow makes sense. |
I think you mean, "That's different!" |
Bahahaha. Put them into camps by force? Are you hearing yourself? Please be bait. |
Are you really this stupid? Texas does indeed take care of as many migrants as they can. At a certain point, however, THERE IS NO MORE ROOM AND NO MORE MONEY for them to continue to take in other countries' citizens. As for DC, it's full of LWNJs who think that the US is obligated to take in anyone who wants to come here. So if DC has to accept a tiny fraction of the migrants that Texas does, so be it. You are truly bizarre and clueless, indeed. |
