Yes. Genuine people who comfort every day citizens who have lost everything in a hurricane. Instead, Biden chooses to schmooze with politicians and talk about what a "big guy" he is. |
What politician is wearing a “Florida Cracker” t-shirt?

+1 Nice job, Gov. DeSantis. Sorry to disappoint the PP.

DP. You are beyond ridiculous. As you say, the photo captures a split second - and you choose to read something negative into it. He's simply walking, nothing more nothing less. Grow up. |
| Thanks for the Federal dollars! |

Because he's showboating and doing his "tough guy" act. Cringe. DP |

The biggest threat to DeSantis and Republicans is the property insurance crisis. Insurers already were cancelling policies before Ian, and that will continue statewide, not just where Ian hit. Premiums will keep getting higher for less coverage. In SW FL insurers will low-ball hurricane claims, force people to sue, and drag out the cases to pressure settlements, as they always do.
DeSantis won’t do anything except blame the lawyers who sue insurers. Republicans never take a hard line against the insurance industry. It’s part of their pay-to-play patronage network. |
I think it depends whether he sees it in his favor to fix it. He might be concerned about getting the SW Florida elderly to vote because they tend to vote republican. |
The Republicans will try to blame this all on this hurricane ignoring that it has been a huge problem for the years and years they’ve had a trifecta in Florida. And it will probably work. |
The roofers suing insurance companies is the issue in Florida. It seems like an easy enough problem to fix. |
NP here. That is not the main problem at all. My husband is a property casualty underwriter. His company has an office in Clearwater. The main problem is the amount of damage in the past to nearly every part of Florida. The amount of claims they get over and over again. More and more companies are just pulling out of Florida completely because it is just not profitable for them to be there. Those that stay are raising rates to levels that aren't affordable to the average person. And good luck getting flood insurance. This was all a big problem before Hurricane Ian. Now it is just going to be exacerbated. He isn't home right now or I'd ask him more, but he's been talking about the problems there for awhile now, as we were thinking of getting a retirement home there. |
