It really is. I know that photos only catch a split second, but this split second is funny and really displays what elected Republicans are.

Yes. Genuine people who comfort every day citizens who have lost everything in a hurricane.
Instead, Biden chooses to schmooze with politicians and talk about what a "big guy" he is.

What politician is wearing a “Florida Cracker” t-shirt?

This underscores why I don’t think DeSantis is such a shoo-in for the GOP nomination once Trump is out of the picture as a lot of people do. He has zero charisma and his personality is off putting.

Does this photoshopping make him more or less charismatic would you say?

You are right though. The guy has all the charisma of a roach.

Helping people is not about charisma.

Amazing what it looks like when an empathetic human behaves empathetically with other humans.

Why in the hell was Biden talking about himself on a trip to a disaster zone?
This isn't about him!

The residents of Pine Island take issue with your statement.

Nice job, Gov. DeSantis. Sorry to disappoint the PP.

DP. You are beyond ridiculous. As you say, the photo captures a split second - and you choose to read something negative into it. He's simply walking, nothing more nothing less. Grow up.

Democrats are always blathering on about "charisma" and "optics." WTH cares? And frankly, I do find him charismatic in a non-showy, pragmatic way. Now Biden... there is someone with the charisma of a potato.

Because he's showboating and doing his "tough guy" act. Cringe.

The biggest threat to DeSantis and Republicans is the property insurance crisis. Insurers already were cancelling policies before Ian, and that will continue statewide, not just where Ian hit. Premiums will keep getting higher for less coverage. In SW FL insurers will low-ball hurricane claims, force people to sue, and drag out the cases to pressure settlements, as they always do.

DeSantis won’t do anything except blame the lawyers who sue insurers. Republicans never take a hard line against the insurance industry. It’s part of their pay-to-play patronage network.

How would this affect the election. Is there a precedence? Can these folks who have lost a lot vote. Has Desantis and his AG have a plan to protect voting rights of the disaster affected folks? Are they going to play games to depress Democrat voting area not being supported where as republicans voting area being given alternatives?

Let's see... I've just lost my entire house, cars, personal property... perhaps my job... perhaps I have a family member who was injured in the storm. But by golly, the first thing I'm thinking about is my voting rights for an election 6 weeks away.

OP, frankly I find your post really offensive. This is not about you and your desire to cling to the D's handful-seats majority in the House.

Really, this is rich coming from a party that uses Human being as political pawn that some of them have endured excruciating hardship to seek asylum in USA or try to punish women who have lost their pregnancy to miscarriage?

This is a political forum and yes politics is the discussion. If you are so touchy get of this forum. BTW, sanctimonious fools like you did not see any issue when Puerto Ricans were in similar disaster and your party was putting all its effort to not help them and come to lecture here when it is FL's turn.

I did not suggest that Biden or Democrats should play politics, but I have no trust that Desantis, Rubio, Scott would not. Does Desantis have a plan to fix this in 6 weeks? Let me see his plan, if you are familiar!

I think it depends whether he sees it in his favor to fix it. He might be concerned about getting the SW Florida elderly to vote because they tend to vote republican.

The Republicans will try to blame this all on this hurricane ignoring that it has been a huge problem for the years and years they’ve had a trifecta in Florida. And it will probably work.

The roofers suing insurance companies is the issue in Florida. It seems like an easy enough problem to fix.

NP here. That is not the main problem at all. My husband is a property casualty underwriter. His company has an office in Clearwater. The main problem is the amount of damage in the past to nearly every part of Florida. The amount of claims they get over and over again. More and more companies are just pulling out of Florida completely because it is just not profitable for them to be there. Those that stay are raising rates to levels that aren't affordable to the average person. And good luck getting flood insurance. This was all a big problem before Hurricane Ian. Now it is just going to be exacerbated. He isn't home right now or I'd ask him more, but he's been talking about the problems there for awhile now, as we were thinking of getting a retirement home there.
