The perfect summer dresses

I'm a 32C and i can't imagine not wearing a bra. I mean, I don't think I would scare children but I would not look good by any stretch of the imagination.

I think some of this may be due to how one's ribcage or torso is. I have a friend who routinely doesn't wear a bra and her chest is not noticeable--her breasts just sort of sink in. On me, you would see them splayed from side to side. Not a good look.

+1 This forum should not be called Beauty and Fashion. Maybe just "Clothes/Skincare".

Weird flex to come into a giant thread where most posts are friendly and helpful with this kind of comment. Amazingly, there are diverse opinions about fashion. What you think is horrid is something another person feels great and confident in. It's not a difficult concept to grasp.

Well I'm short (5'4) and thick around the middle (medical issue that makes me look pregnant; hope to resolve by next year), and have discovered that the long loose sleeveless dresses are not very flattering. They make me look a lot heavier than I am. I'm hoping adding a belt will help. Otherwise it's back to the drawing board.

The short ruffly styles that seem to be popular at the moment are a little more flattering because they show my legs, but they make me feel very 'mutton dressed as lamb.'

Now I"ll have to scour through this thread again to look for styles that may work for those of us who are not tall and thin. This was helpful nonetheless as it forced me to address my clothing shortage and order/try on a variety of options.

I have another zuri sleeveless arriving tomorrow so of course I thought of this thread. Their newest sleeveless is a black and white print called “monarch”. Definitely more understated than some of their others.

You feel short at 5’4”? I’m 5’4” also and never thought of myself as short.

DP - 5'4 is average for women in the US, for whatever that's worth.

I am not reading the 261 post before mine, but I miss Boden's Lola Jersey dress - pockets, a million colors, comes in tall/long sizes. Not around this year!

Yes. I am 5'4 and chubby, and a lot of these dresses are cute, but too long for me. I'm apply shaped with great legs, so I try to wear things knee length or above. Some years I find great dresses, and some are really hit or miss.

All three of these dresses are beautifully cut, come in many colors & prints, and they flatter almost every body type (I have long legs and a short, almost non existent waist, my girlfriend has a long swimmer's torso, but stumpier legs (she calls them stumpy, not me) and my other girlfriend is shorter, about 5'3" 170lbs and these 3 dresses fit us all beautifully).
They're extremely flattering on.

Sorry, I hit send too soon.

I meant to say that I also have the long one in these two colors too, and I love them all... short waist or not, this dress does wonders for making me look like I have a longer waist (oh, and the slit can be as high or low as you want, the dress can be as tight or loose as you'd like too -- it's the beautyof wrap dresses!).

And my DDDs will pop out of all 3 and be completely inapproproate!

You can dress it up or down and the quality is great (I do not put it in the dryer).

If you look good in this, you must be truly beautiful. I'm imagining you as tall and lithe with beautiful olive skin and dark hair. On me, this would look like utter surrender and sadness.

+1.

Isn’t this what a muu muu is?

No. A muu muu is much better than this. This? This is a hundred dollar hospital gown.

I'm DD and own all 3 (and I always wear a bra, because I have to -- skin on skin makes me too hot).

As I said in the post, they're wrap dresses, you can make them as tight or as loose, as covered or as exposed as you like.

I am an E (sigh) and these types of dresses have never worked on me, and I can never quite figure it out because there are a LOT of wrap dresses out there and I like the idea of them but they always look bad.
